PostSubject: Just Bought a Johs Churchwarden   Thu Oct 26, 2017 11:22 am

I've been MIA from these forums for a while now, and I sure do miss lurking around here. I wanted a nice churchwarden and after looking at Savinelli, Peterson, and Stanwell HCA (no one is selling the models I like) I decided to grab this Johs Churchwarden.

https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/johs/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=256412

I hear good things about his pipes and it was a really affordable price. If I enjoy the Churchwarden enough I may end up getting a Savinelli Qandale at some point, as I think they seem pretty cool too.

Also, are there any other Johs fans out there? Because I'm also eyeing this one:

Cheers!

I like the styling of many Joh's pipes, especially the bulldogs. Ditto for Neerups. So far I haven't sprung for one, as I currently have my PAD in remission. They seem like great pipes for the money, similar to the old Stanwells.

You will certainly enjoy your Joh's Churchwarden, hope you smoke it for many happy and healthy years to come cheers

Joh worked alongside the late Master Danish pipe maker Bjarne Nielsen for many years. When Bjarne passed away ( suddenly due to heart failure ) Joh went on his own and crafted some beautiful pipes. I own over 6 ( lost count ) of Joh's pipes in various shapes. My two favorites are the brandy bowl's, both with an oval shank and a wide slightly bent comfortable stem. Only difference between the two is the color. ALL of my Joh's pipes are excellent smokers and in MANY threads prior I highly praised this pipe maker.

My opinion, Joh's pipes are underrated and worth double the selling price asked today!! Over at Smokingpipes you will find many styles and shapes of Johs pipes for under $100.00 NEW!!

Nice looking churchwarden. I don't own any churchwarden pipes yet... perhaps one of these days.

Good looking Cw.   Don't forget the extra long pipe cleaners!  I bought a Cw earlier in the year and forgot about the pipe cleaners.  I had to place another order and  I had to get something else, so I bought some tobacco also! Smile

Here is my Cw I purchased from P&C.

Thanks Simple Man. What railroad fan doesn't have a collection of railroad books. That was
just part of it.

It's here and just as pretty as the pic. Having my first break-in smoke now. Using McClellan Christmas Cheer 2014 which I just opened this year and puffing it nice and slow.

I'm kind of "old school". I bought a 1940's Wellington. I haven't received it yet; probably will get it before the weekend.

I will. One of the reasons I went with the Wellington, besides just the "old school" style, they have a fairly large bowl.

The larger bowl is the same reason the Johs stood out to me! 2.11 inch bowl height, 1.79 inch chamber depth.

Yup, that Churchwarden I'm familiar with and if you like the way that Joh's smokes take a look at other Joh's pipes made in Denmark @ Smokingpipes for $100.00 or less. The most underrated pipe maker today!! I know his work well and the briar he uses and his craftsmanship he learned eagerly from Master Danish pipe maker Bjarne Nielsen. I've found many Joh's pipes selling/sold on eBay for $35.00 or less...NEW.
