PostSubject: Fasting?   Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:17 pm

Tomorrow I go in for the frame repair on the ol' chassis. The instructions say I have to fast before going in. I wonder now if they plan on going in through the front rather than have me 'bottoms up'. And why do they call it fasting? Time is sure passing slowly tonight. Starving is more like it. Call it what it is, eh?

Perhaps this exercise is in part to build character. I could most likely stand to have more character. Or be more of one. Perhaps that's it. They want me to have fun with the work, tell some jokes, etc., as my intestinal fortitude gets spilled on the floor while they draw and quarter. Maybe if I use a sharpie and write some follow up instructions on myself everything will be fine. You know, 'exit only' down under, 'open other end' on my foot, that kind of thing.

So, no strong smokes for me tonight. Gonna keep things light, sip my water, and read.

See y'all on the other side!

Good luck with the "repair" tomorrow. I can't stand fasting. I have to eat every two hours. If I don't I get so hungry. I'll leave it at that. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

Best of luck Wiz. When my bro had vertebrae surgery, they went in from the front so that may be it.†

You'll be in my thoughts mate.†

Good luck

Well, I got out of the worst of the work.....

Got my fluid topped off, and a small breach filled, but the new doctor thought I was still too bruised up around the work area for him to want dig around, and it was his opinion that I would finish healing well enough given time. So the typical stock answer for the upcoming months,

Rest, minimal lifting and bending, physical therapy (without pain reciprocation), take pills, stay hydrated, no drunkenness, avoid jarring motions, etc. Sounds almost like retirement home activities for this wizard for the moment.

So, thanks for the candles, prayers, well wishing and all that you folks offered up. I think it helped, and it is greatly appreciated!!

Be well, all y'all!

So glad to hear you did well. Retirement home activities huh? That's harsh but I suppose necessary all things considered. Continued prayers and good wishes headed your way.

Feel better soon bro!

Sounds like you came through relatively unscathed Ozzie. At least compared to what might have been! Still, it couldn't have been very pleasant.

I do like the doc's recommendation to let things heal naturally, albeit slow as they are.

Cheers,

RR

Good to hear from you Wiz, sounds like a wise doc to me, least damage soonest mended and all that.†

How're you passing the time? Reading, whittling, movies, cooking, philosophy? Can we help out in anyway?

Cheers mate

Well, I've started on some books, but sitting is still difficult for too long, so I spend a lot of time tethered to my walker or leaning on my cane. I started on a couple of pipes, but so far the shaping has been more work than I've had patience for. So I've been playing around with cob pipe modifications like different stems, metal banding, etc. I've also aquired some Oriental tobacco types I'm experimenting with in new blends.

Cooking mostly soup and chilis lately. My stomach has been a bit off with the pain meds I'm consuming.

Other than music, I'm rewatching my David Attenburough collections. Love me those educational programs!

I think you should hire a contractor to install a " Llama door" so Thor can come inside and keep you company... He would prolly make a good cuddle buddy. † Anyways... here is a joke to brighten your day...

Sounds like you're using your time well mate. Love me some DA doco's, never come across a boring one yet. Some small batch blending sounds like fun too, let us know the results. Oh, please post pics of your Frankencobs, would love to see them.†

Get well Bob.†

Cheers
