20+ year old C&D Pirate Kake. I found that jar hidden away. Pardon me while I proceed to chew the bit off this pipe.

I thought you were smoking alfalfa out behind the barn twenty years ago... Cool

Have you really had it that long?

Cellared by another gent March of 1998. I got it in some horsetrading. It has a lovely funkiness that is very good.

Longtime members might recall my story of the Postal lady handing me this box at arms length. Upon getting into the car for the 4 block ride home, I realized just how much that box stank. LOL

Also the story of trying to disguise smoking it by burning the block long pile of leaves that was several feet deep. And the fire dept was called and advised me not to smoke it in town.

I might just smoke it all up this time. I had been smoking it occasionally and jarring it back up. I was kinda looking for some old Billy Budd when I found it again. I love quart jars.

Speaking of "finding" stuff. I found a sack from the 2014 Chicago show with a bunch of tins in it. The C&D Joie de Vivre tins were a bit swelled. Stamped with that best to open in 2022 date on them. But of course I could not resist. Aaaaaah! The aroma! Good funkiness with a bit of catfish cheese stink bait scent. A very good smoke.

Hmmm. Yeah, that’s pirate treasure all right.

This story might prompt me to fight my way through a bunch of remodeling supplies to get to ‘old number one’ to check on the goodies inside. Stuff put away circa 2000, etc. It’s a big old cabinet meant for storing VHS tapes...5’ tall x 3’ wide. BIG. It’s chock full of the first blends I ever put away. Mason and jelly jars of all sizes. Lots of little stashes of old GLP, McClelland, Gawith, Wilke, Affordable Pipes, etc. I haven’t opened that thing in 4-5 years. Might be about time. lol

Oh my!  I did dig my way back to my tall cabinet any undid all the locks (six or seven) and opened it on one side.  Wow!

First three things I pulled out:

1. One pound of C&D Night Train (circa 2010)
2. A small mason jar of McClelland 2015 (over ten years old)
3. A one pound sealed factory tube of C&D Exhausted Rooster (same vintage as above)

The other stuff I pulled and then put back ranged from Margate to Deacon’s Choice to original GLP releases in little jelly jars...and were dated from 2002 to 2008.

THANKS CARLOS!  I had totally forgotten about this stuff from my original “Cave of Wonders” collection.

PS:  I kept only the Night Train out...as it requires further close inspection and evaluation. Heh, heh.

Good stuff. I may have to tap my 5-6 year old night train now. I also noticed I have an old tin of triple play that is now swollen so I imagine good things are happening there

Out on my freshly stained deck with a light breeze and two evil Steller’s Jays (flying raptors) squaking their way up and down a neighbor’s Redwood...puffing the 8 year old Night Train in a big Cob. Wow!
