...with one year on it is great! I don't care too much for straight Virginia tobaccos, but this is so different than others I have tried. I like it a lot. Too bad it's gone. Is there anything else that is similar?

Unfortunately I never was able to acquire a tin. Only red Virginia flake I know is Wessex Red Virginia Flake. I know folks have been buying Sutliff 515 RC-1 to replace McClelland's 5100 Red Cake. Sadly I have not had 5100 either but do have Sutliff 515 RC-1 and it seems to be mellower and sweeter then a golden Virginia.

McClelland blends are irreplaceable. Sutliff's 515 RC-1 is a light version of a McC blend. I do recommend the Sutliff Crumble Cake Red Virginia. It's the closest thing to a McClelland around, even if it doesn't quite match them. They also used a bit of the red Va. in Crumble Kake Va. Perique and Curmble Kake English #1. I reviewed all three here:

Thank you, JimInks. Those are helpful. I didn't get to try 40th Ann until after the closing. A kind BoB member gifted me a nice sample. DANG.
