From an article in the June 29-July 5 issue of "New Scientist" (p 7). A team in Germany created a gene-edited version of a tobacco plant with nearly no nicotine. The article states that the strain of tobacco used usually had 16 milligrams of nicotine per gram of dried tobacco, while the modified version had 0.04 (1/10th the amount of the previous lowest produced by any other method), believed to likely be a 'non-addictive' level.

So, we can all smoke now without being ridiculed?
Maybe they will invent "light cigars, tobacco, and cigarettes"! You know, "light beer" w/less calories. "zero cola" w/ zero sugar. " and "nic-less tobacco" w/o nicotine!
