Yes,I use them to rehydrate tobacco.Sometimes I'll open a tin and leave it
laying around and it drys out.I put the contents in a small Mason jar with a disc
and it's O.K. in a day or two. They are useful in a tobacco pouch also.....the tobacco
dries out really fast in a pouch.

I use them all the time to rehydrate dry tobaccos; after soaking one in H2O for a bit just toss it in said tin / jar / pouch and you will be good to go. I usually toss them after the metal casing begins to stain or oxidize or the clay gets funky. They are quite cheap and effective, really. Like mason jars, another 'no brainer' in my opinion.

I used to use them when they were available from JR. Where do you buy them now?

The best use I made of them was rehydrating tobacco. I'd put the tobacco in a ziplock along with 3 - 6 buttons, and doing so, could rehydrate in 1 - 2 hours. Now I spritz and seem to have a good sense of how many pulls on the trigger are needed for a tobacco, given varying degrees of dryness.

Yet another question. About how long should the buttons remain effective? I use one in my pouch, but they seem to work less and less after only a couple weeks. My pouch is a good one, but it is zippered, the coins take good care of my tobacco so long as they work. I wonder if this could be the result of tobacco specs getting lodged in the holes. Also, recharging them seems to be pointless. Maybe I should just buy them several at a time, they're certainly cheap enough.

I use em, but not the buttons. Mine are called blimpies and are small and oval shaped and hold way more moisture and last longer than the coins. I got two of em in a jar with some really dry BBF so I'll let you know how it goes and take some comparison shots

Here it is.

Rehydrating makes the best brown flakes much more pliable, and they no longer fall apart when I try to separate them. There is some great sugars on the leaf and this tobacco smokes so wonderfully out of my oversized Nording Handmade Freehand (takes a full flake)

It also makes it smoke a bit slower and more even, although smoking it bone dry was a very pleasant experience as well.

I've only had FVF from the tin, if my BBF was pretty dry in the 1 lb box, you think it has a few year of age on it?
