Won't even let a feller smoke his pipe in peace!

From Wash Tubbs, "Now What?" 1934.

Found it while looking through old newspaper ads for Granger tobacco... "Folks Seem to Like It." There was also a classic police blotter article: "Police Still on the Trail of Doughnut Thieves."

What is he supposed to be wearing? Usually this strip is in the Yew Ess Aye, and both Easy and the "kid" appear to be wearing "Dutch" wooden shoes, and he has on what could be liederhausen, and a hat right out of the French Revolution, while she is wearing a short plaid skirt, etc. Not one I have a book on either, can't look up the story line.

Her dialogue makes you understand why the other guy ran away. Just how much baby talk could you take Sweetums before you contemplated shooting the "duchess".

I like these old time strips, but mostly Tracy and "The Spirit", and "Lil' Abner" and there are pipe smokers in all three.

a married woman's house buttoning up his trousers and he tells his buddy
"A slice off a cut loaf is never missed". Shocked
