You know, since you're considering moving to VA, W.T. Sherman for an avatar may not be such a good idea.
Just a suggestion Neutral .

I like the look of that photo,a deranged individual who was
rumoured to have fits of insanity. When I retire[once I sell my house]
and move South I wll change it so people think I'm a true born Dixie.
I will fly the stars and bars in front of my new house so that I fit in.

EJ don't tell him about rebel license plates, grits and biscuits for breakfast, tires to hold your roof down and other other cultural secrets just yet Twisted Evil

He must also learn to talk proper:

1. Y'all
2. All Y'all
3. Yer'all
4. Like I say
5. Fixin' to (though you mostly hear that in Texas)

Our Eastern version is made with fresh Shenandoah Valley water (instead of rocky mountain).

Winslow, Since you like reading about the War of Southern Independence so much, you'll be in a great place to go visit some of the great battlefields & sites, with Manassas just to your north and Appamatox to your west and the penensula to your east and the Museum of the Confederacy in your back yard. You can reach most of these sites in just a few hours of driving time.
There is also the Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown triangle not to far east.
Come further west and we'll show you around the mountains, we have the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail both passing through here, as well as the New River, James River, Shanendoah, and all associated tributaries.
If you get bored it's your own fault.
Welcome to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

My wife will be looking at half a dozen houses today with her daughter.
I may have a deposit down on one of them today in the Woodlake or
Brandemulle area by the Swift Creek Resevoir about 40 miles from Richmond.
I may not see snow this year for the first Winter in my life. Shocked

PostSubject: Re: Hey Winslow!   Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:12 pm

We've had several years of mild winters here, but some old timers are expecting a colder more snowier year. When I was younger we would get a good snow (being 6-10 in.) or two per winter with some winters worse than others, no two consecutive years alike. The worst was about 1992-93 we got a blizzard with 3 feet of snow, that pretty much shut everything down for a week or two, with major power outages, impassable roads etc.
Usually driving in the snow is more dangerous down here because most folks don't see much of it and don't know how to drive in it, causing more accidents, especially those with 4 wheel drives- they think they can drive the same as when it rains, they usually hit the ditches first leaving those with sense and front wheel drive going by them (laughing).
Of course Richmond does tend to be warmer than the mountains, but they do get the occasional snow storm blowing through. Nothing like you northerners get but something anyhow.
My inlaws live in Va Beach so next spring when we go see them maybe we could meet up for a smoke since we pass by Richmond on the way (I'll leave the babes behind).
Good luck with the move.

That fishing trip sounds exciting, can you get the dynamite, we can't seem to come by any here nowadays, so we've gone to using one of these:
