Heartfelt thanks, today and always, to those who serve, have served, or shall serve.

There's no comparable way for this civilian to repay your sacrfices, but even so, I owe you a beer.

And for those brave men and women who can no longer receive our worldly thanks: we remember you, fondly and gratefully.

Yes, I woke up this morning with a few tears in my eyes thinking of all my relatives, friends and acquaintances that are no longer here due to past wars and thankful for the ones that made it through. With that said many thanks to the ones serving now to keep freedom alive.

The only thing I'd like to add, is that this Veterans day, as with the past eight... Remember those of all nationalities, both participating from the coalitions, as well as the local nationals who are giving their all to the conflicts we're involved with to stabilize their home country.

Alot of the times, they're not given the credit they're due.

I had a good chance just now to sit on top of the palace I work in and reflect on that.

At least here in Baghdad... There has been no significant violence over the past two and a half days. That's something to be said compared to a city like Detroit which can't say the same. To any who may argue, there has been significant improvement on security, and none of that could have been accomplished with our military, the coalition's military support, as well as the Iraqis here who willingly risk their lives towards thier nations stabilization and independence, as well as the Afghanis over in their country.

It was definitely a night to remember for me. There was no wind whatsoever here (and as Ahmad can tell you, there's usually a breeze of some sort at this time of the year here). Slightly cool, about 68F. I was able to enjoy a bowl of Nightcap (first one of the tin) and had a solid effortless burn the whole way through. Knowing there was no murders, IEDs, VBIEDs, or anything of the sort and the only sound to be heard was an owl circling over the lake left me an impression I haven't had in quite awhile. That maybe our men and women haven't given their lives for something that would never bear fruit.

I'll second that!
Thanks to all that have and have been willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedoms we take for granted.

A big thanks to the brave young men and women who serve our great Country today and to those that gave their lives with honor. My deepest prayers go out to those who lost their loved ones in the tragic Fort Hood incident.

It can't be said enough: thank you to all of our brothers and sisters that serve, and all those that have served in the past. We keep them in our hearts and minds today and every day.

Thanks for reminding us of this Anthony. Very true.
