Pipe Night is an event much like a roast (think comedy central, Roast of Bob Sagat, etc.) that the gentlemen's club "The Players" would host to celebrate entertainment professionals and their contribution to the arts. Generally churchwarden pipes are smoked at these events by the members, hence the churchies in the pic. The character in the print appears to be a likeness of the famous baritone David Bispham (18571921), to which this night is celebrating. Hope this atleast points ya in the right direction DPG.

-Cheers

You were dead on right Drew! Pretty cool event. The building that they're held in still has it's original gas lights on the front facade. Also, they still do these "roasts" regularly....

That is pretty and even more so that they still do it. Are the roasts still called Pipe Night?
