You gotta bake 'em before you fry 'em.

Boiling 'em first makes it easier to get the excess fat off and makes 'em more tender for frying. No shadows here today.

The little bugger dove back into his hole before I could crack a round off at him Mad

Groundhog and whistle pig are just old redneck terms for a woodchuck. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today up in PA. So supposedly there will be six more weeks of winter. Old Phil has been around since 1887. Amazingly long life for an animal! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Oh by the way, you pin them up for about three weeks and corn feed them and they cook up just fine. Same way we do opossums and coons down here. Good eat'n! Very Happy

Label it "Marmotte," cryovac it and put it in the cooler at Trader Joe's, and I guarantee you'll get people shelling out $12/lb for it.

Poor widdle groundhogs. You are all beasts! Beasts, I say!

When I lived in Ohio, Chunky and Spuds (my wife named them) lived in my backyard. They'd entertain us when we'd sit on the patio, or look out the deck window. They wouldn't have hurt a fly. Packing tender green shoots down their gullet was their sole interest in life. And all you lot can think about is eatin' 'em.

Brutes.

I don't want to eat them, I just want to blast em outta their lil' holes Smile You ever do a one legger down a groundhog hole? There you are, walking across the yard in the dark (don't ask) when all of a sudden one leg finds the groundhog hole, depositing your lower extremity to it's confluence with the rest of your person (not pleasant) while the other leg is still walking around. You look awful silly with one leg buried to your jewels and the other still running around in circles like that. Makes you start lurking around groundhog holes in the twilight with a baseball bat, prepared to inflict retribution on the devil beasts.

A 3X scope and hollow points is considered justice in certain circles, when it comes to ground pig

A wise woman indeed.

Our issue with the little f*****'s is that we have several breeding mares of considerable value. To have to put one down after breaking a leg stepping in a pighole is VERY expensive. Neighbors have cattle, same issue.

Are we still talking about wives or back to groundhogs?

I wondered if that was going to be misconstrued; did not expect it so quick.
