It was not to long ago... The fabrics and the designs have made it if not common place at least not rare...The cross braced ramair eilliptical has changed the whole ballgame of what you thought was possible.

Look up some video of US Navy 'Leapfrogs'.. The parachute equivilent of the Blue Angels.

Impressive!!! Nothing I would ever do; but looks like fun! I have to presume there is some builtin rigidity to his 'chute; otherwise the thing would collapse. At least, I think that's what they told us in flight & survival school! Somewhat the same as "rigid-rotor" for helicopters. I remember being in awe the first time I saw a hellychopper do a loop!!! Wanna' bet his backup 'chute is a standard one???? Laughing FTRPLT
