Ray Smith the host and driving force of the Jazz Decades on WGBH-fm 89.70, has passed, I have been listening to his show since '72 recording sometimes, but mostly enjoying the musical patois from 1900- 1950's, a powerful statement of misical elan, he was also a decorated soldier of the Iwo Jima campaign, a most humble man, he loved his music and played with 5 different groups, he kept me company for many Sunday nites, Adieu mon Frere.

Here's a little memory for you:

You should be able to click on one of the Icons and listen to one of Ray's programs from the past.
