Welcome to the forum. Post up a pic for us from a local gig so we can see you in action. Lots of musicians on here.

Thank you TallSmoke and bruins!

Yes it is bluegrass and yes I do play an RB-5. Do you know about banjos?

I know enough to get me in trouble, I suppose. And I love bluegrass. It's not a bluegrass band (in my opinion) without a banjo. What style do you play? Any clawhammer in you?

I have been learning a little frailing to play along with an old fiddle friend of mine. Mainly I play Reno style bluegrass.

Not from my bluegrass band, but here is a snippet of me playing one of my own compositions. It is called "The Queen Anne's Revenge". For any of you banjo fans, can you spot the famous banjo builder in this video?

p.s. I have lost about 70lbs since this video was shot!

P.P.S. I think there may be a bad word said at the end of this video...so if you have any young ears...

Welcome aboard RB-5! We welcome Bluegrass here! My Dad grew up in Galax and I lived there when I was much younger.

Not there anymore but I miss it every day and that stunningly shot video is a reason why. People just hanging out making music. I lived in Harrisonburg for many years, owned a couple of restaurants but traveled to C'ville extensively for many varied and sordid reasons. Do you know a lady named Terri Allard? I love her work and her beautiful vocal abilities. I live in Mississippi now and it ain't no Virginia but it'll have to do for now. BTW, that banjo playing was really nice to listen to, maybe you haven't mastered it yet, maybe you have, but you know how to bring the music out of that instrument. Good Job. What's on the Tee?

Hey Blue Max, thank you for the kind words.

Yes I do know Terri Allard. I dated her cousin for years when I was in highschool. The Tee is a shirt from "The Dead", the band that the rest of them formed after Jerry died.

Well then, we have a lot in common. I used to have a club in Harrisonburg and insisted that Terri play there as much as possible, which she did much to my approval.

Also, long time fan of GD and I thought that might have been what your shirt was but you never do know these days.

And, I've been smoking a pipe for many years but not with the wild abandon that some of these fine fellows on this board do. But I do enjoy finding a nice blend that suits my mood and putting it in a good pipe. Sadly I only have two good pipes right now but I am looking to up that as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic board if you want to know ANYTHING related to pipes and tobacco. There is an untold wealth of knowledge to help anyone pursue this most noble of pastimes.

Glad to have you here.

Thank you Ron!

Blue, yeah it's a small world man. I have always thought about visiting Mississippi. Adam Gussow, my fave harmonica player lives down there. If you are ever back in H-Burg shoot me a pm and we could have a pipe and talk music.
