I am so sad for your loss.
QUOTE (Majj @ Nov 4 2005, 07:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A LETTER FROM YOUR PET IN HEAVEN
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness
Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you ... in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night ... "My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented ... that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile.
God says: "If you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street with me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind."
"And when it's time for you to go ... from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going ...
you're coming here to me."

You know that you gave that the dog a great home,Morn for it never forget him or her and I belive that your dog would say after a while "Hey Dad why dont you give another dog the same joy you gave me I wont mind" God bless

Your loss and pain are quite familiar to me and I share your sadness and loneliness. I've found the best cure is looking for and finding a replacement puppy. When you start your search, I hope you'll find a great one.

Piet, I'm not sure what all Martin said here but since he's a Dutch Brother, I'll second it. It's sad we lose our faithful companions at some point in time but we will always have the memories and good times to reflect back on. Take care my friend and get some more needed rest.

Piet, we don't really know each other yet. But, you're a pipe smoker. And, you found such a good friend in your four-legged companion. Those two things tell me you must be a very, very good egg!!

My wife and I raise Yorkshire Terriers and Poodles. We become very, very attached to them. As a matter of fact, they are more like our children than they are our pets. They even give us more attention and love than our human children do... sad... but, true!

Over the years, we have lost this one and that one. Each one had and still retains a special place in our hearts. We even tend to tear up when we get to talking or thinking about this one or that one.

I've said all this to say that I understand your pain, my new friend. My heart breaks for you. And, I offer you my deepest and sincerest condolences. Those who are not so close to their animals cannot understand that the loss of a good friend pet can sometimes be harder than the loss of a human friend!

Blessings to you! And, may your current grief soon be tempered with the good memories of the precious times spent with your companion!!

Robert

BTW, being a fellow dog hugger (and, not the least bit ashamed of it), I thought you might like to know about a place called "Rainbow Bridge." Some will say it is a mythical place... created out of the hearts and minds of those who cannot let go. But, I like to believe that it is a real place... a real place where we will some day be reunited with our beloved pets!!! Here's a poem about Rainbow Bridge:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

BEEBIZ!!!!!
Wow bro, you are right we don't know each other that well yet, but that said, after this fantastic post, you sure are a brother of mine!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for the poem and taking the time to post on this thread.
It only dawned on me recently that most of the brothers here are fellow dog huggers and it seems this goes hand in hand with the pipe.

I really do appreciate your thoughts and kindness!!!
Brother BEEBIZ - you are saluted!!!!! cheers cheers cheers

Look forward to chatting to you on the board in future!

Piet, I'm sorry to hear of Laker's passing.

Had to put my cat of 14 years down last year, haven't been able to get another pet yet.

I know cat's are different than dogs, but the companionship is still missed. Just remember all the good times, that might help get you through a little easier.

Thoughts and prayers brothers, please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Pete

Piet,

I'm sorry to hear about Laker. Losing a dog is so hard. I still get sad thinking about the family dogs I grew up with and how they are long gone. Take heart in knowing that your furry friend left you with many happy times and good memories to look back on.

A bowl dedicated to Laker this evening. Take care brother.

Piet,

Sincerely regret the late reply. I'm on the road and just haven't been online for several days.

That said....Losing a dear pet is absolutely one of life's hardest moments. A piece of our hearts always go with them; a void is left in our lives. You made a tough, heart-wrenching decision to do what was best for your buddy. I feel for ya', my Bro!!! Tonight I'll lift a glass to a Man and his Dog!!

I can't take away the pain you're feeling; but I'll be more than happy to share it with you!!

Hey Piet,

I just saw this and wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Laker. I am also an artist and my two dogs keep me company when deadlines start stressing me out. They always know when something is wrong and only ask for a couple of meals and a belly rub or two. What a world it would be if we all could get a along with so little.

As far as the multiple deadlines and jobs go, I've been there brother and know how hard it can be. I'm sure you'll power through it with your positive attitude and incredible talent.

Good luck, go get 'em and a doffing of the hat to Laker. Great friends are always missed because they leave so much good behind Smile

WOW, Ultraman, what a surprise, would love to see some of your work sometime!
You said it bro, A studio aint a studio without a studio hound. My work is ready for my showing next week and Laker passed away 3 days after I landed my final brush stroke. I am not spending any time in the studio and that for now may be a good thing!!
Thanks for your thoughts and kindness brother and taking the time to post here!!!
