| Dave Whitney famous for his NASPC articles about low buck briars recently wrote a book called "Old Briar" which is available through his e-bay store pipesbywhitney. It's an e-book and can be read through Adobe in pdf format or for $2.00 extra Dave will you send you an MP3 version via snail mail. I've recently competed it and genuinely enjoyed it. It teaches simple restoration and is a guide to finding the best cheap wood on the market. Buy this book!!!!! _________________ I'm On Vacation. Don't Bother Me! |

Number of posts: 1 Age: 73 Location: Lakeland, Florida Tobacco: I, after 40 years, have returned to Prince Albert as my go-to tobacco and believe I have become a burley addict. I also stoke up with some Balkan Saseini from time to time because I used to be addicted to the old Balkan Sobraine 759 in the black cans. It's no comparison but the modern Balkan Saseini is a good, pleasant smoke and gives me a little Latakia kick! Pipe: My favorite pipes range in four categories: (1) a couple of large P-lip Petes and a smaller fish tale bent bulldog Pete; (2) a string of older Edwards pipes preferrably in the author or bulldog shapes; (3) my old The Doodlers, again in the bulldog or Rhodesian shapes; (4) and a constant flow of old Dr. Grabow/RJR coupon pipes from the '50s and '60s - again authors and bent bulldogs - with Adjustomatic stems that I constantly search out and restore. I am convinced that the old pipes from the Mid-20th Century, whose briar has properly cured another half century, give us the best smokes at the best bang for the buck - "OLD BRIAR." | Danish Pipe Guy - Thanks for the plug on my book. It has been selling quite well in the .pdf format and the reception and comments from readers are beyond my expectations. My www.pipesbywhitney.com site is down for a while so we can relocate it and redo it. But, you can order the book - $10 in .pdf via e-mail, or $12 in .pdf on CD via snail mail - by sending me a message at pipesbywhitney@gmail.com. I'll send you a PayPal invoice for which ever version of the book you want and when it is paid I'll ship it to you via your preferred message. Don't forget to include the e-mail address, or the snail mail address, you want it shipped to. Enjoy! Dave Whitney |
