Both the McLaren drivers penalized 5 places on the grid for blocking in qualifying.

Kimi wins for Ferrari. Massa spins out of the points and is now the whipping boy in the media. Robert Kubica a fine 2nd place for BMW. McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen for third. Good drive for the Finn.

Lewis Hamilton had a stuck wheelnut. Although the British press seems fixated on his water bottle not working. Dropped back several places. Alonzo in the points again. Honda showing well compared to the last couple years. Super Best Friends finished both cars. No doubt they are in last years Honda as they are struggling at the back of the pack.

Yeah, I know. Late report. A lot going on and getting up for live races in the middle of the night is not easy.

Bahrain in two weeks. Cool

Good drives all round, at least for those who finished. Wink

Super Aguri Honda is quite the misnomer, isn't it? Super? I believe it was last year when David Hobbs referred to Sato as a "Mobile Chicane"; an apt description. I'm sure you could put him in the Ferrari, and he'd still end up either off the track, or at the back of the pack. But, the SAH are just silly, right down to their Manga inspired team name.

I remember that "Mobile Chicane" comment. I get a great laugh listening to those guys. All have had some experience in racing and know drivers, teams, etc.

I think it was year before last when CBS had to take several of the races and use announcers that knew nothing of the sport. I was so pissed off I just switched to the Internet and followed them there live on a text play by play. I like Speed and I like those announcers.

Last year Super Aguri seemed to get more out of the previous year Honda than Honda had done. Of course than had to come up at some Honda board meetings I would imagine. The FIA is changing the rules on customer cars, so I look for them to evolve into another small builder team.

I will probably chuckle about that the rest of the evening. A mobile chicane. Laughing

AS part of the penalty against McLaren last year in the spy saga, they were to be at the end of the pit lane in the garages with the least features. They had brokered a deal to be in the 5th slots. But for the upcoming race in Bahrain next weekend, they will be at the end of the pits.

Coincidently McLaren is partly owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Qualifying for the Grand Prix of Bahrain is in the morning, race Sunday morning. Ferrari looks tough and Lewis Hamilton nearly destroyed his McLaren in practice.

Massa and Kimi for a Ferrari 1-2. Robert Kubica 3rd. Quick Nick 4th for a BMW Sauber 3-4. Lewis Hamilton, who was rubbing shoulders with George Lucas and others pre-race, had a terrible day. I suspect several rookie mistakes on Lewis's part. Championship points are jumbled. Should continue to be an interesting season.

Barcelona in three weeks.

Additionally, much tribute was paid to the famous Jim Clark. Who died at Hockenheimring, 40 years ago tomorrow, on April 7th, 1968.

Internet was down last night due to the storms. Could not remind everyone about the Spanish Grand Prix qualifying this morning. Race tomorrow morning.

Kimi on pole. Fernando Alonzo 2nd! Shocked Wonder how much fuel he has on-board. Massa 3rd. Should be interesting at the start and first stint.

Super Best Friends is racing for another weekend. The lesson to be learned from them is, never beat your parent company with last year's car. Hope they get some funding to continue.

The BMW's are in the mix. Let's see how strategy plays out for them. Where is McLaren? Close, but no cigar for them today.

Race day tomorrow morning. Very Happy

Sorry to say that Hamilton is showing his immaturity as a driver this season. The guy has a ton of raw talent, but he needs to be nurtured to become a truly great driver. It seems Ron Dennis isn't providing enough of that nurturing. Or, maybe he needs a better race engineer.

Honda will do better once they shake out the car a little more. Again, Button's amazing skills - his smoothness and choice of line - are held at bay by a car that just simply cannot go fast enough. The thing sticks like glue in the twisty bits, but when it comes to the drag race in the straight line, I think my aging GTi could go faster. (Yeah, right.)

Super Mario Bros continue to amuse, despite some minor successes. Sato is better suited, strategically and in his driving "style," to NASCAR, the WWF of motorsport, where he can join Juan Pablo. F1 is a finesse game, and he's proven repeatedly that what he lacks in speed, he'll make up for in blowing up his car, or running into others'. I'm left to think that HONDA have a sense of humour, and they're using SAH to fuel a laugh riot behind some boardroom door.

Not that I want to see SAH disappear. I don't. Once they've been lapped, they provide a valuable service in separating the fastest cars from the less fast cars, using their now legendary "mobile chicane" strategy. It takes nerve to drive a safety car during the actual race... Oh, wait. Nothing at all safe about those guys, especially Tako.

This is turning out to be a very interesting season.
