I think the Steinbrenner's made a huge mistake in letting Torre go and hiring Guiardi.

In Guiardi, the Steinbrenners got a "puppet". Steinbenner yells on Wednesday and the yanks get 18 runs (big deal for one game). Then after a loss to the Bosox, Guiardi calls a "closed door" meeting after the game. "They are ashamed at how they they are playing, promply lose today.

Torre would stand up to these ego's, both owners and players. This could be the down fall of the Yankees this year.

Remember Benson's statemenmt in the vice-presidents debate:

"I knew John Kennedy. He was my friend. You sir, are no John Kennedy"

Well, I say:

"Joe Guiardi, you are no Joe Torre."
