| I've been watching more and and more Yankee games when the Red Sox are playing at a different time. Michael Kay is, IMHO, a talented broadcaster. The broadcasts are highly professional and respectful.
One of the interesting things to follow is the transition of Joba Chamberlain who will soon be a starting pitcher. It's like making Johnathan Papelbon into a started. He pitched a couple of innings tonight, relieving Petitte. It was a shaky start but he gained his form during his second inning. After he left the game (Rivera finished), he continued pitching in the bullpen to build up his stamina.
It's a high risk move. If the Yankees could last the 7th inning, they could count on Chamberlain followed by Rivera.
Two nights ago, it back fired when the Orioles came back blasted the Yankee relievers.
It could be a roller coaster... what if Joba doesn't work out as a starter? The mid to setup relievers are questionable. Time will tell.
Wang, after a great start, is faltering. Petitte is hit and miss. Mussina has done surprisingly well Kennedy after being brought back from triple AAA, again didn't make past the 3rd inning the other night Hughes is on the DL Rasoner, after a couple of good starts, is faltering Hughes is on the DL and now there's Joba
and a weaker bullpen. |

| You're right about Michael Kay and the Yankees broadcast in general. I've always found it professional and respectful.
Now, I am a native NYer. I always used to enjoy watching my Yankees baseball on local TV and then later on the YES Network. Last October I moved to NC. Guess what - no YES Network here... But to be honest, when I look at their record this year I am almost relieved that I can't watch their games.
The Chamberlain move sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch it unless I pay for the full MLB package from Time Warner. And I hate Time Warner, so that isn't going to happen. Oh well.

| In fact, I lived in Staten Island for the last 23 1/2 years (Brooklyn for the 9 prior to that). And, yeah, I get that question a lot. In fact people just say, "you're from New York, right?" Although when I am in "professional mode" I can lose the accent entirely and sound like a TV news anchorman - i.e. no discernible accent.
