I went to the driving range with my grandson tonight... first season outing.

He struggled, 9 years old & will be 10 next month, but his stance has improved.

I was pleased with my iron shots except the 3 and 4 irons...

My woods are something else... I still have a nice wicked slice with the driver Laughing . We'll probably try a par three course soon.

I have golfed twice in my life. I stopped keeping score last round but I would guess I shot something over 150. Still, lots of fun and a game I plan on sticking with now that I live in NC.

I've been playing golf for about 16 years, and I love it. It's a challenge, and you'll never master it, but if you like it, you'll want to do it forever.

I don't have an official handicap, but I usually shoot in the low to mid 80s. I have yet to break 80, but that hopefully will change this year. (of course, that's what I said last year Razz )

By the way, I read a great quote once about golf: "If a man is fortunate, he finds one consuming passion in his life. If he is unfortunate, that passion is golf."

Andrew, if you're serious about playing, you might want to find a good teacher and take some lessons. Then practice a lot. You'll be surprised at how quickly you will progress.

Puffs, I love to see kids taking up golf. I wish I could have started when I was 9 or 10!

When I was a kid, we had a public course within bike riding distance from our neighborhood. It was way affordable and most times the clubhouse guys would let us keep on playing after 9 without paying. Ah, the good old days! Anyway, I kind of stopped playing when I moved from NW PA to SE PA and haven't picked up a club since I was probably 18 or so. I would love to get back into the game, but I don't have the time or the money to invest in doing so at this point. I have more hobbies right now that I can hardly keep track of them all. Maybe in a few more years...

I have always said I would play golf if they would let me shoot at the ball after I hit it. Very Happy

I like it. But it's just not practical for me at the moment. Simply too busy. I have played three times on courses. I have a Birdy on a par 4 to my credit. Very Happy

I actually started with lessons a few years ago. My first round of golf was at a President's Club trip to Cabo a few years ago. I had never golfed, and seeing that golf was part of our agenda I needed to at least learn the basics. Me and buddy took 4 lessons in Hoboken, NJ. At least we didn't look like complete fools on the course... close, but not complete.

I was thinking of taking more lessons as well. We have a range with pros not too far from my house here. I just need to find the time (not too easy with 2 little kids).

The last time I went golfing, it was 1976. My 2 younger brothers are avid golfers, I probably ought to go out with them some day and play a round. Walking 18 holes doesn't sound like much fun, but with a cart and a beer cooler........I could get into a game like that! lol

Before the children came along, I joined a Golf & Country Club in Nova Scotia for one season. I played a lot and managed to hit a 88 for a low the first year. Then the children came alone and with five children there was neither the time or the money.

But now it's something to do with my grandson. Occasionally I play with my son but he is a low handi-capper. But it is nice to watch him hit the ball long and straight. If I can keep the ball in the fairway, its a victory. Laughing
