So baseball players can't use tobacco where they work--welcome to how the non-celebrity world lives. I get the same raw deal at my workplace, and I don't get a minimum $390,000 annual salary. I should've worked on my curveball when I had the chance.

I read this article. I agree that these guys are very impressionable to young people. But I think Parents play a big role as well. I think too many people look for someone else to blame. My dad smoked up to 2 packs a day when he was in the military. He has quit. He always told me that smoking was bad for you. Did I try it anyway...yes...did i keep up with it...yes. What got me about the article was the part at the end about a lot of players chewing gum, what about cavities. I do believe you can loose teeth that way as well. Do get me wrong, I understand that chewing gum won't kill you. I thinks it's a tragedy. Let them do what they want. When kids want to try something, they try it. I'm in the military and you wouldn't believe how many people chew. I think we actually keep smokeless tobacco companies in business. Nobody I've ever talked to that uses chew says they started because they saw some ball player do it. Hell next thing you know we'll stop telling kids about our fore fathers who grew TOBACCO as a cash crop. I guess George Washington is a bad role model.
