| Rattray's Old Gowrie with just a touch of Arcadia in an old beater Santis 205 (my traveling pipe with a lid, so it carries well in my pocket). The tobacco was good, the pipe OK, the tea fresh, but the setting was exquisite. Sitting atop a man-maid hill in Chang Geng Park in Western Shanghai at sunrise, among ancient limestone and huge trees, watching old men practice calligraphy with brush and water on the pavement, old women practicing tai chi, while the hoards of grand and great grand children go screaming though the park, a cornucopia of sights, sounds, smells, and cultural observations.

| | Last night Spilman Mixture--a favorite--while reading the favorable review of it in the new Pipes & Tobaccos. The pipe: a GBD Ebony. |

| Some MacB VA#1 in a beat up estate billiard. One of the best bowls I ever smoked. Summer is finally here 20something degrees celsius in the late afternoon sun. Sweet sweet Va in the pipe. This blend won't bite my tongue off if smoked sloo-owly. Maybe It's the sun, or the pipe or both combined, but I'm feeling mighty good right now. A zen moment for sure.
Enjoy your pipes and have a good weekend! |

| Happy weekend all!
Smoking some Mac Scottish Mxture. Seemed a bit less complex than last time I had several bowls of it ( kindly gifted to me from Jeepernick, thanks,Nick!)
I notice it does tend to burn a bit hot if I am careless, and I believe I recall CArlos exhorting me to take 'er easy.
Another bowl being stuffed this morning.
