| i'm heading to a B&M to meet up with some buddies... they don't have that many pipe smokers and tins from '02 and '03 can easily be found. i'll check 'em out for you.

So glad you mention this simple fact PB. I always wonder what people are thinking when they bid up those eBay tins of McC beyond retail price ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and the tin is only three years old.
Cheaper to go to your local B&M and pay full retail plus taxes. Just gotta dig around a little . . . . |

I'm pretty sure I saw an "announcement" or article by McClelland's that they had reached the point that their products have reached the point of 4 year aging prior putting them on the market. Whether that is pre-tinning or bulks, I'm not sure. That was quite a while ago.
PB, is this what you are referring to?

| where in "oz" are you located, tin man?
i'm up in leavenworth county...
---- i've never understood some ppls bidding habits on ebay (not to threadjack). i landed 6 tins of older (small tin) ACP Escudo for $90 shipped, that was under a week after a "consignment" auction of the same stuff went for $210+ for 5. hmmm... $15/each or $40+/each??
on topic: they didn't have any VA 24 at that B&M at all. i have 1 50g tin ('02) that i'd be willing to trade. hell, i'm down for just about anything in return. i noticed you have a ton of G&H bulk, and i've never had their Va/Per. let me know if you're interested. _________________ "Let those smoke now who never smoked before, And those who always smoked—now smoke the more." |

Hmmmmmmmm........... Maybe I should change that. The location was just a play on my moniker.
I'm not really located in Oz with the scarecrow and the lion. I'm out in sunny California with Dorothy and the Governator.
Hope I didn't mislead anyone. |

| Puffs thats what I was talking about, I know the tin dates are getting older and older, not sure about the 'bulk'..they don't date stamp the leafs
Then again maybe they aren't doing this on purpose, maybe the slowing market is doing this and McC is wisely trying to market the 'problem' to their advantage. |

dangit. i had a reply typed up, then had to close my browser here at work to get some stuff done.
anywho, this contradicts what Mike has stated to a few of us on another board. we had him make us a forum blend (which we're still waiting on), and he told one of our guys that he's actually selling MORE than he use to a few years back (part of the reason we're still waiting on our blend for nearly a year now).
all i know is that when he opens the door to their warehouse, and his hands are all covered in tobacco juices, the aroma coming out of that building is like heaven. |
