| I have several Pete's with p-lips and love them but they're a bit of a PITA to clamp in your teeth as that little rise right in front of the hole gets in the way... _________________ There is about as much water on Earth now as there was three billion years ago. | I have three Petes with P-lip stems, and other Petes without. I don't think they smoke any different than my other Petes or Savs or Stanwells or ..........., and most of the time I doesn't bother me. But there are times when I'm looking over the collection to pick a friend for a smoke, and I'll say no to the P-lip stem.
Guess it's just one of those things. _________________ "It has always been my rule never to smoke when asleep, and never to refrain when awake" Mark Twain |

| I have eight Peterson's -- six have the P-lip and I have grown to dislike them. I like the briar on the Pete's -- it is tough as nails, and it tastes good. But the fishtail stems are exponentially better in my opinion. Draw is key to good pipe smoking (along with great tobacco, great briar, etc etc) |

| The roof of my mouth is too sensitive for the P-Lip,I like Peterson pipes but not that bit.

| To further confuse things, I'd like to add that I find all three of my P-lip bearing pipes to be different. I have a 303, which has a small, very thick and round stem, a much older 606 with a saddle type stem, and the 140th Anni. pipe.
The 606 is really comfy... I love it. The 140th is tolerable, but I made a fishtail replacement for it all the same. The 303 is no good in the front teeth, but excellent for clenching.
I do find with all P-lip type bits that my throat becomes a bit irritated if I smoke a full bowl in one go.
All in all, I'll stick with fishtails when I can, but a p-lip won't stop me from buying a pipe if I really like it and can't get it with a fishtail. |

| | i don't like the P-lips at all. i reshaped the ones i have into a modified fishtail. P&C sells fishtail system stems, but you'd probably have to send the pipe to Peterson or a repairman for any of the other models. |
