My upper front teeth (#8 & #9) have cost me thousands over the past dozen years. They'd grown thin and chipped frequently. Every time I went to the dentist, I had to pay for the repair and a limited general exam. The last time I had repairs done, my new rather young (30s) female dentist said I was wasting money and time with all the repairs and suggested crowns on both upper front teeth. #7 already is a crown. Today, the crowns were installed and I feel like a fool for not having the work done years ago. She matched the color to #7 (crown) and I'm thinking about putting a crown on #10. Any smoking + coffee +tea stains teeth and I bought bleaching strips for my lower front teeth.

Ouch! Last time I had a crown put in I walked in there at 10 a.m. and left two hours later with the permanent new crown done and installed. They did the whole thing from doing digital mapping to 3D printing to cutting off the old one to putting in the new one. Pretty amazing.

My brother's dentist has the same type of service with an on site lab to make the crowns. He needs to have his wallet in his back pocket, 'cause this kind of service requires that he pay thru the ass. He said his last crown was $1600, installed. I have excellent dental insurance; 50/50 at a negotiated price with BC/BS Dental. It covers up to $15,000 annually. My dental monthly insurance premium is high, but I know that I may, at some point, require an implant or two and they are very expensive.

Good that you got it done now. I feel your pain. Wife had serious periodontal issues last year. Had laser surgery. 12 grand plus. My best bud, fellow ranger and horse riding buddy, is a retired endodontist. He says waiting is a mistake because it causes bone loss, making crowns and implants more difficult and expensive.
