As suggested by another esteemed member here: What are your plans for 2021 concerning either pipes or tobacco for the upcoming year? Mine include the trying of some of the Peterson Dunhill blends such as Elizabethan mixture, 965 and Nightcap. I am also looking forward to cracking open some of the blends (especially English blends, Bufflehead blends and some Pease blends) that I have been aging in my cellar for at least ten years. As far as pipes go I have no fixed plans and will have to see what tickles my fancy.

I hope to wrap up my TAD offensive this coming IPSD - if the vendors give any break on tobacco (mostly they want you to buy a pipe). Just odd's and ends remaining on my want list, newer product I haven't gotten around to trying like Penny Farthing, or the new Mac Baren Vanilla Roll Cake. Then maybe I can start to save some money for a nice pipe for next Christmas, possibly a Radice Rind that kxg so enthusiastically recommends.

I'm actually really looking forward to winding down on the tobacco explorations so that I can spend more time with the ones that I know I like. I guess that would be my New Year's Resolution: less quantity, more quality! ;)

Just going to try getting through some of the blends I have cellared but haven't tried. I don't "need" any more pipes, but hey, can't stop looking. BTW, saw a really nice looking Vauen Luxus on ebay that seemed reasonable, $50. Thoughts on this? Prices for Vauens are all over the map, 30 bucks to a couple hundred. New are running $100+.

I plan to smoke down my already jarred tobaccos a bit so I can open up some new ones. Also want to try some of the Peterson Dunhill blends, I used to love Nightcap but haven't had it in a while.

I also want to try and make it to a pipe fest of some sort if they become available again

I think the reason for the different prices is because Vauen like Peterson has all different grades on their pipes. I have a Vauen with a white dot (apparently they paid Dunhill for some of the rights) that cost me $200+. I have others in the $75-$100 dollar range. All are good smokers IMHO. I'm assuming the pipe in question is used. If in good condition I would say that is a reasonable price. If its one of their De Luxe pipes that is one of their higher grades.

It is a Luxus rusticated. Looks alnost pristine. Also a good sized pipe which I prefer.

I never know what’s around the next corner Castello/Dunhill wise but I’ll stay picky so I have the money when the right piece appears. I hope the vaccine takes and we can get back to pipe shows again ASAP. I hope to add a smooth piece to match this large Carmette billiard carved by my buddy Adam Sheehan next year.:geek:

Unless some of my favorite GH blends become available, smoking down my cellar at least a little! (And try to resist any new blends that come out.)

I haven't been forthcoming with my PAD acquisitions this year as I'm a bit lazy when it comes to taking pics/posting!! To say the least, I've been on a pipe-accumulation binge over the last 12-18 months! I have two in the mail as we speak...er, type!! The last being a Christmas present to myself, a huge unsmoked (7 1/2") 14-year-old Brian Ruthenburg natural ring blast 1/8th bent dublin. This has to stop... New Years resolution #1, no more pipes.
As far as tobacco, I'm in the boat with others. I'm attacking my considerable cellar...No more Latweed or Ginnyweed. One or two select Burleys (Watch City Slice comes to mind) may be acquired, but that's it!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!! I'm serious this time; PAD & TAD are "fini!!" Enjoying what I have is "in!!" FTRPLT

I cannot imagine buying another pipe. I've progressed (or regressed) during the past few years from smoking high grades; Dunhill, Ashton, Castello, Don Carlos...to almost exclusively smoking cobs. I've put together a few English blends, in quantity, that I seem to always enjoy, so I can't see myself buying more tobacco. I look at 2021 as a time to downsize, either by selling, gifting, or dumping.

Yesterday, in fact, I opened a jar that contained about 6 oz. of tobacco which I'd labeled illegibly. I filled a bowl, smoked a bit, decided that I'd never reach for that tobacco again, then dumped the tobacco in the trash.

Like ftrplt I've been on a buying spree the last 6 months. Would try to blame it on you guys what with posting pics of some beautiful and unique pipes, but guess that wouldn't be fair as I can't blame others for my lack if self restraint. Anyway, set out to upgrade my collection and have done so to some extent. No dunhills, but have added 4 Petes, a Don Carlos, Pipa Croci, and a Georg Jensen hand carved. Also the Aldo Velani which may not qualify as high end but is gorgeous and has turned out to be a great smoker. Tamping it down now unless I see something I really really want. Did add 2 more yesterday, a Vauen and. Vintage Savinelli paneled billiard. Got both for $90 from a nice fellow in Serbia off ebay. So no more in 2021 unless I really x4 like it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, kinda, lol.

Hoping to get my retirement wrapped up, city house sold and moved to my lake house where I can sit and enjoy my pipe whenever I damn well please. I have enough pipes, tobacco and cigars to carry me through likely the next decade.

A friend asked me if I didn't feel a bit guilty about throwing tobacco in the trash. I said, no...there are many things I've purchased in my life that didn't work out. It would be foolish to have regrets for every mistaken purchase.

Well, my cellar is nowhere near as deep as you fine fellows, so that's my goal for next year. Especially some of the smaller blenders that I haven't tried yet, a la KBV, Watch City, Iwan Ries, LJ Peretti, etc. And, hopefully, get lucky and get the chance to buy some Penzance (or damn near any Esoterica, haven't tried any yet)

As of yesterday I am officially retired. That means less totally disposable income, which means I need to start smoking down the accumulation. That should take at least ten years without any tobacco purchases. I don’t need any more pipes, but that was true 20 pipes ago, or maybe 40. So, no more pipes. At least I’ll try.
my primarily goals are there. First, build a pipe cabinet to roughly match the one I have. This will be a 40 pipe cabinet with plenty of room for large bowls. Second, get my shed cleared out to allow for smoking in inclement weather. Third, restore several pipes setting in a box in a closet. That’s it for this year.
