I like Lakeland flakes and I cannot lie. You other brothers (of briar) can’t deny.

Sorry about that. My GenXness got the better of me for a minute. Anyway, I really do love every Gawith Hoggarth flake I’ve tried. Some more than others, obviously.

But my reason for posting this is because it seems that BoB members occasionally come to terms with the fact that they’re overbought over the years, and the ol’ cellar is overflowing. Or maybe ones taste just changes.

Anyway, I’ve recently decided to try, if at all possible, to purchase all my tobacco from other smokers, whenever possible. Over the past couple of months, I’ve managed to make 3-4 great, mutually beneficial transactions this way.

A few weeks ago, a fellow BoBer gifted me multiple generous samples of some OUTSTANDING well-aged blends. I’d consider myself a lucky man to be able to get my hands on substantial quantities of any of them.

But for some strange reason, there was something about that decade-old curly cut deluxe that REALLY tickled my fancy. So much so, I proceeded to trade (on another forum) for a little less than two ounces of new stock CCD. Alas, it just wasn’t the same, so into the mason jar it went. I plan on trying it again around Christmas

So, if you’re still reading… thanks for hanging in there. Here’s a brief list of some of the things I’m interested in acquiring, in (ideally) 8-16 ounce increments.

GH Curly Cut Deluxe
GH Brown Flake Aromatic
GH Best Brown #2
McLelland bulk VaPers, including old Peretti London Flake (hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?)
Pet

To be honest, I like a lot of stuff. But, with a couple of exceptions, I’m not especially fond of C&D, GLP and Mac Baren. And I’m not a fan of latakia.

But if it’s well aged and contains some magical combo of Virginia, Burley, Kentucky and Perique (bonus points for plug, flake and broken flakes), chances are I’ll love it.

if you’ve read this far, you have the patience of Job. If you think I might want to discuss some of your surplus, you’re probably right. Let’s talk.

Good frappin' luck on finding/acquiring any Peretti London Flake! Been trying for quite some time. I'm just happy to have a goodly bit of the McC-made Cambridge Flake (from 2009!!) FTRPLT

Hey, I know my chances are slim, who just left town. But, the squeaky wheel and all that.

Plus, I’m just a general swell guy. 😂

Seriously though, even if I whiff on this quest, there’s plenty of fish in the tobacconist’s.

Try taking that BoB survey for a chance of some aged McClelland's!

You got me. I’d already completed the survey earlier this evening, but chose to not include my email. After seeing your tip, I completed it AGAIN, this time WITH my email.

Fool me once… shame on you. Fool me twice… shame on… uh, shame on… well, I won’t get fooled again.

HaHaHa, man o man if I had the tobacco your looking for I would send you some. Those are mighty fine ones too with some age.
I appreciate the sentiment, buddy. I figured it was worth a shot. I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll be able to get my hands on some of what I seek, with a little patience.

I figure the tins will generally get sent to pipestud, so someone with pockets deeper than my own can add more tins to their “look at me” collection.

But I’m more than happy to “settle” for the surplus bulk tobaccos. I plan on enjoying it. I don’t buy tobacco for bragging rights.

Gawith Lakelands, eh? You need to look for Broken Flake #7 & Glengarry Flake. The #7 is arguably the best stuff Gawith does. IMHO of course.

You should also think about trying some of the “sweetened” ropes…rum, whiskey & maple are winners. They’re not at all sweet and the subtle scenting just takes the edge off. And dark flake or plug…scented and not. Very, very highly regarded.

#7 is one of the few that I HAVEN’T tried yet.

I think Glengarry is great. It’s one that had to kind of grow on me. That’s one thing I’ve noticed about the GH flakes: even the ones I don’t care for initially, I end up enjoying a great deal. I didn’t like Coniston Cut Plug at all initially. I found that floral essence way too overpowering. But it grew on me.

I have yet to find one that I don’t enjoy. I’m sure it’s out there.

Black xx I got 4 ounces of it 2 years ago and have 3.95 left. #7 Broken flake is the bomb. For me probaly my favorite. I would like to try the ropes next time they show up in the shops online. Wthall has some firedance for sale and I'm interested but its for 15 oz. I would split it with you if you want. He's asking 60 for it.

Ah, it sounds like you've bumped into the phantom drug dealer on the board. He gives out samples of delish, aged, and damn near extinct blends just to get you hooked. Then you spend your life wandering around helplessly looking for a few crumbs of those rare blends. Oh, the horror of it all!

Come on man... just a taste... sniff, sniff...
