My younger daughter has two cats, both rescues, both neutered, one male, one female. The male is very social and friendly; the female quite shy. When I enter my daughter's house, Ollie, the male always greets me, rubs against my leg, apparently asks me for a quick pet, then moves on. Lola, the female, usually runs away, but if she's lying on the living room sofa is quite content to have me brush her long hair.
Yesterday, my older daughter came for dinner. Ollie would not leave her alone. He constantly was rubbing up against her for attention, and when she'd rub his back, he'd flip over immediately giving her his stomach. If my daughter sat down, he'd immediately jump on her lap and start to purr immediately. I've never seen him act in that manner, not even with the younger daughter or kids.
I asked my daughter if she'd rubbed herself with catnip; bribed him with tuna, etc. She laughed and said, "Ollie just likes me, maybe it's the way I scratch his back."
It seems most peculiar.

Ollie is a cat...there is no accounting for his/her behavior at times!! My wife introduced me to pet/house cats! At times we've had six...all rescues, "dumpsters," semi-feral kittens, etc. We had a little calico years ago; cat was meaner than hell! Wanted no one to touch/pet her...except me!! Cats is cats!!!! Ollie is a cat...there is no accounting for his behavior at times!!
It was just so strange watching how goofy he was acting. He was absolutely smitten. I've petted him and there's been soft purring, but on my daughter's lap, it sounded like a motor was running.

Lost my best bud, Peanut several months ago. Heartbroken. Campaigned for a replacement 'til wifey took me to the local shelter. Going on 75, I was looking for a mature (read: 6-8 year old) cat.
Shelter lady open a container and "Muffy" came off'n her perch and started rubbing my hand. Snagged and landed! Found out Muffy, a muted calico, was two and 1/2 years young. So now, this codger is running around the house with a silly kitty toy with Muffy a'chasing! So different from 18 year-old Peanut, but, damn what a joy!

Love the shot of the two kitties in the window

Years ago, one of my staff did a favor for a friend. The woman was moving out of the country and had a 10-year-old cat that she'd had since it was a kitten. She asked my staff person to take the cat..."After all she's old and won't have much more time." The cat loved its new home, particularly after my staff member's mother moved in with her. The two were almost inseparable. I think the cat lived into her twenties.

Love me some pussy :p

Got two cats here currently with very different personalities. One is paraoid that everything is out to get him and flinches at anything. I mean you fart and he looks around to see what that was. The other is placid, but hates everyone except me and she will piss on anyones elses bed but mine. Which has led to lots of closed doors in the house. I love them both, other housemembers not so much. I want to get more kittehs here but the house board won't allow it.

Not really a cat person but a few years ago I visited my nephew and his wife who had 2 siamese. My previous experience with siamese had been that they are imperial little shits who don't like anyone. Woke up the first morning in the guest BR with one cat under my armpit and the other one, the male, lying next to my neck with his head on my ear. Was that way every morning the whole week I was there. Odd.

It seems that Lola, the female, wasn't just shy, but must have been very unhappy, as well. Early last week, she waited for my daughter to open the front door to fetch a delivery and Lola shot out the door. My daughter, husband, and kids went out searching for her without any success. They put out treats and water in case she wanders home. She was never aggressive and got along very well with the other cat. My daughter said Ollie, the male, seemed to mope for about a day, then returned to his normal behavior.

I'm sad to report that Lola, the unhappy kitty, never returned. We checked with animal control, the Humane Society, etc., but no Lola. Hopefully, someone took her in and gave her a home where she felt comfortable.

The white cat in the paper bag (the center picture of my three above) was that way. Got out twice, would come back in a few weeks; usually hungry and worn out!! Last June or July, wife let him out again. He's never returned. Again, cats is cats!!!!! FTRPLT

Yesterday was my granddaughter's 7th birthday and there was a small family party at 2:00 in the afternoon. On Thursday, I went to the Target deli and bought cold cuts, rolls, a cake, etc. for yesterday's party. With the three kids there was a total of 10 people. As we all gathered in the living room, prior to lunch, my 5-year-old grandson informed everyone that Ollie, their, cat was sitting in the middle of the lazy susan holding the cold cuts and eating.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Today, because of distance learning, I spent the day supervising my grandkids.Ollie the cat greeted me as he normally does. Later, he was lying on the back of the living room sofa looking out of the window. As the kids worked on their computers, I sat down on the sofa, not far from the cat. After a couple of minutes, he jumped off the sofa and hid under an adjacent love seat.
