Experimenting with 4 parts Peter Stokkebye 84 Turkish (Samsoun/Virginia), 4 parts Cyprus Latakia, 2 parts Smyrna in an Ashton Pebble Grain Made in England XX billiard. Nice, soft, cool smoke, but not quite what I want it to be yet.

Thanks! I picked the pipe up in early 2000s. Not sure when Les Wood produced Chevins for James Barber, but it sure does smoke well.

Enjoying some 2006 Esoterica Tobacciana Stonehaven in a Merchant Service Special Dark Smooth pipe after a breakfast of eggs, sausage, and a croissant. Slowly recovering from a flare-up of chronic pain. Cheers!

Just lighting up some 32 yr old Mac Baren Dark Twist Roll Cake in a James Barber Chevin ** Made By Hand In England by Les Wood with 925 silver band. Now I don't know for a fact that it's 32 yrs old, but a friend gave it to me in April of 2004 and said it was 15 yrs old. It looked and smelled...

Smoking my own blend #6 from 2006 (in descending proportions McClelland 5100, Smyrna, Perique, Syrian Latakia, Golden Va) in a Ferndown Bark *** Canadian. Had some wonderful Italian sausages for dinner. Now relaxing with an IPA and water.

Sounds like you need an Extra Large Charatan's Make or a giant Ben Wade. I like the BWs Made In England -- I think they were made by Charatan at the time. Here's a good example: Ben Wade Large Blasted Dublin (44)/ Featherweight/ England/ MINT | eBay. 35 grams is very light for a pipe that big.

Haha! I sure do. I smoked nothing but cellared tobacco for the last coupla years, so I'm going kinda crazy with the sampling this year.

First smoke of the day is Ken Byron Ventures' The Patience of Doctor Silence in an unknown calabash gourd pipe with block meerschaum bowl, silver band, and a black vulcanite stem. I forgot to polish the silver on this when I worked on my other pipes. Anyways, I bought this pipe from a regular at...

Trying Capstan Flake (Blue) first the 1st time in a Ferndown Bark ** (Hand Made in England, Les Wood) Bulldog-ish pipe with black vulcanite saddle stem. My favorite pipe for smoking a Virginia flake. Lovely smoke! Last smoke of the night.

Peretti Omega in a Ferndown Bark ** (Hand Made in England, Les Wood) with tapered brindle vulcanite stem. Nice English blend! This Ferndown is one of my favorite smokers. Just finishing some Henry Weinhard's Root Beer.

It's not really like anything I've smoked before. The Dark Fired Kentucky dominates the Latakia for me, making it spicy, woody and smoky... and then the sweet Maple and grassy Virginia. I've had blends that are much more Latakia heavy, and this isn't what I'd call a Balkan or Oriental. Maybe...

I've been smoking coins of Mac Baren Latakia Roll Cake stuffed into a James Upshall Canadian S-Grade today while I work. The huge bowl on this pipe really works well for stuffing coins. I just give it light twist to fit it down in and then smoke it nice and slow. Drinking Portland water and...
