Is there any reasoning behind the unavailability of rye whiskey? I have no knowledge of whiskeys, just seems to me if one type of spirit is available, the rest should be, as well. Curious.

I can't offer you any suggestions on sweet-tasting whiskeys, but I can suggest something else. Benadictine and Brandy, sold as B&B in most liquor joints. It's pricey, but extremely tasty. Goes well with a pipe.

Have this same set of books and I have to say they're all rather enjoyable. I've never been a big Holmes fan, but I received this collection as a gift and, being short of other stuff to read, started working my way through it. Not bad, just not my "reach for" when it comes to literature...
