Which Tinderbox Blends should I try?

Used to love Philosopher. Can't get it anymore so I don't know if it's still as good as it used to be. But I happened to find myself in a TB, I'd get a pound of it just on the chance that it might be. Someone recently gifted a friend of mine (who let me share it) one called Special. I don't...

    Stems: Acrylic or Ebonite/Vulcanite?

Acrylic/Lucite. I have a reaction to vulcanite. The way they taste to most people when they've oxidized is now they taste to me all the time. It can be a deal-breaker for me; at the very least, a choice between a pipe with a lucite stem or one with vulcanite becomes an instant non-choice.

    Lost pipes

Yes, just mentioned it in a video I made a couple hours ago. And I suspect it was also in car trade. It was a Comoy (I'm pretty sure). And it was a cutty, which is not a shape you can find easily in briar. This isn't the one I lost (very similar though), but just for a reference for anyone who...

Falcon pipe book now on Kindle

Just got mine. Thanks for the heads-up. Never smoked a Falcon in my quarter-century of pipe-smoking, but for only $3 and given the dearth of pipe-related books out there, especially in e-book form....no-brainer.

    Ascorti?

In the years after the first edition of Hacker's book, I bought I think three Caminettos. I began to think, 'For a supposedly hard-to-find collectors' item, these are surprisingly easy to come by...' Turns out Caminetto had been back in business for a couple years and I was buying new ones...

Dunhill elizabethan Mixture...whats the hype about??

I miss being able to just walk to the store and pick some easily. It was never my main blend but it was always in the outer circle of my rotation. But I certainly am not going to pay premium prices for it. As others have said, GLP's Stratford is a very serviceable substitute. Always wondered...

    Ascorti?

A very fine brand and a steal at those prices. The first pipe I bought that didn't come from a drugstore or the basket was an Ascorti and I bought several more since. Haven't bought one since the local Tinder Boxes went out of business, but those I have have served me well over the decades...

North American Society of Pipe Collectors

Pat yourself on the back. I just joined. (Not entirely because of you, to be honest. It's been on my mind. But your post made it happen now.)

    Greetings from Indiana

Just asking because when I was young, my parents moved me kickin' and screamin' to St John, IN, just over the border from Illinois. It's technically a suburb of Chicago, but that's a pure technicality. Lived there for years and have to say I never really felt home there.

    Curious meer carving...

Uh, guys....that's not a pipe. It's a fancy cigarette butt.

So what part of Indiana you from?

    Ghost from heck

Came across this and thought you might be interested. You'd have to send your pipe out, but you can't beat the price. http://www.walkerbriarworks.com/html/ozone.html

    Not Heavy Latakia Blends

I love Penzance, and I'm glad to finally meet another human who doesn't think it's particularly strong. Despite the controversey, I'm going with Presbytarian. There's no doubt in my mind.
