Comme ci comme ça. A lot of the time they come off as just too precious for my tastes, especially in some of the modern pipes. And I've never taken much of a shine to those GBDs with the transparent acrylic stems either. On the other hand, I don't mind the oxidation on some of my vulcanite...
I think the new-ish Rattray's "British Collection" is really just the Peterson line from Kohlhase, Kopp & Co re-branded or re-labeled. Rumor has it that Mac Baren is due to take over production, with K&K retaining the rights to the original recipes.

No heresy at all PD. Lots of guys find a cold shave is much more comfortable and less irritating. One thing's for sure when it comes to getting a good shave no single approach is ever going to works best for everyone.
For me it was actually the hot or at least warm lather that got me to pick...

Both are remarkably good IMO (the brown irish & the no.4 that is), though lately I've been reaching for the 10mm pigtails more often than the 20mm twists.

My favourite pipe for out an' about is a lil' stonehaven lovat. Though I often take the wee Morgan cob from Missouri Meerschaum out for a stroll as well, I find myself reaching for a briar Stonehaven more often than not.
