Yesterday I was standing in line waiting to have the checker check my receipt against what I had purchased before I left the store. Ahead of me was a guy about 6'2", 225 lbs., wearing a t-shirt that said Minneapolis Police Officer with his 80ish mother, and ahead of them were two very obese woman in the store's electric carts. The checker was thorough, discovering duplicates of several items that the fatties had in their cart baskets. Without saying much, she moved the unpaid duplicate items out of the women's carts and put them in a re-stock cart. The women didn't put up much of a fuss and rode out of the store in the electric carts. I spoke to the Mpls. cop for just a moment, asking what he'd have done if those women had put up a fight. He said that although he's a Minneapolis cop and we were in Burnsville, he'd have been obligated engage the women.
He said it was pretty much SOP for shoplifting duplicates, "Keep an item and return the stolen duplicate with the receipt to get cash back." He said the time is coming very soon when every item in these stores has a unique individual barcode.

Wonder where/how the "women" hid the items from the checkers? Once hidden, wonder why they put them in their cart to be counted? Oh well!! FTRPLT
