Hi,

I managed to grab this Dr Plumb Peacemaker - which I understand are rare, at least here in the UK. It comes up really clean apart from the stem that looked like a dog had been playing with it (slight exaggeration!). I have gone through the usual procedure, cleaning, Mr Clean, grading micro-mesh and got rid of the chatter marks, but now It's pretty dull and feels 'matte like' in my mouth.

Is there a way I can bring this as close to its original shiny self?

Thanks...

To polish a stem to as new condition a set of micro mesh pads easy to obtain on ebay. Pads go in increments from 250 grit to 7200 and higher maybe. Plenty of videos on you tube or where I learned from reading Rebornpipes blogs. Wish you luck and great score on the pipe!

These micromesh sets go up to 12000 grit. Outside of a buffing wheel, I can't imagine getting a shinier final rub than 12000. I know some people use a Dremmel tool with tiny buffing wheel to get into the tight places (if they don't want to use micromesh).
