More pouring rain in sunny California. When it rains, the nearby airport uses a flight path that goes right over my house. Nothing like the booming sound of roaring airplanes every 45 seconds to get you in a meditative morning mood.

Luckily still able to very much enjoy a bowl of Magnum Opus in my Vauen bent brandy.

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed Suzy and Molly along with two ferals.

Enjoying a bowl of Peter Stokkebye English Oriental in a Vauen Lime Meerschaum-lined bent billiard. Anyone know any similar blends? Need more oriental forward stuff in my stash.

Sometimes I think I like the smell of latakia in my beard more than I like smoking it. And I like smoking it
For oriental forward, I recommend Pease's Westminister

Old Gowrie in a large straight Vauen billiard. First time trying it. Pretty good, inoffensive and mildly sweet. Is it normal for Virginias to taste pretty much like nothing after back to back bowls of English blends? Aside from that, reasonably enjoyable smoke.
Weirdly now that I've just finished it.. I think I love it.

Old Gowrie added to shopping cart

I wouldn't say I like buying tobacco more than smoking it.. but I wouldn't say I love it less either. Hmm.

Enjoyed a tall stack of cinnamon raisin French toast with sliced pineapple on the side. I'm half way through this bowl of year 2001 VaPer Three Nuns in a 1938 straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Larry's Twilight #11, neat, is my drink. Getting a couple of things done before my weekly Sunday pipe zoom.

40° and windy today. Decided to go with Uhle’s Blend 00 in the MM Southport Ferryman. Ran across my great uncle Big Bud’s rough cut tool box while tinkering in the shed. He was nearly 100 years old in the early 1980’s, so I’d say it‘s pretty old. Might be repurposed to store tobacco.

Just passing the quarter mark on this bowl of first release Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem.

Just fired up some Balkan Sasieni as the inaugural bowl in my new Vauen Auenland Hugg churchwarden. I'll be damned if this isn't the best smoking pipe I've acquired so far. Looks the part and most importantly, functions great.

Edit: The quality of the smoke is great; super cool, easy to puff away with impunity. But it's also fatiguing to draw air through the pipe for 45+ minutes (especially with the 9mm filter), cumbersome to wield and to clean, and in practice I tend to prefer clenchable pipes, so. This will be a special occasion pipe, as I suspected.
