Chewing tobacco twists fir smoking

I'm wondering about any experience anyone has smoking these kinds of twists. Various kind pop up here and there, so figured someone has tried for smoking. Bet they are strong.

Kinda dry. Strong is an understatement.

Assuming you don’t mean the Gawith twists, which are excellent.

I personally love the twists it's like a fancy plug lol great for a evening smoke

A forum friend sent me some Red Ox twist and I smoked it in my pipes a few years back. It was not bad, kind of strong in terms of N. Haven't purchased any more since, not because I didn't like it, but because it was not available in E. Tennessee. If you want to try a chewing twist, be sure it is one of the natural ones that are not made with sweeteners. Back when I was working with whole leaf tobacco, I tried making a twist on my own, just to see if I could.

I bought some rum twists very strong but I did really enjoy it. I only bought them and some plugs so I could try out my plug cutter.
I would give the rum twists chewing a go, probabally get in less trouble than the beverage.

I'll pick one up. Turns out RC Owens out of Galatin TN makes many brands of these. I should be able to find them in Middle Tennessee. Thanks for the warning about sweeteners.

Bought this on a whim. The twist came in a cellophane package, and although just 17 months old (it was dated) it was completely dried out and needed rehydrating. Not sure if it's technically Kentucky or some other type of 'fire cured,' but it's very monochromatic -- tastes like just Kentucky to me. Unlikely to buy again but it was interesting to try! I'll use the rest of it to add some punch to some milder blends.

Speaking of American Chewing Twists: I like Cotton Boll for the pipe, Mammoth Cave was suggested to me for the pipe but I found it better as a chew. Tried Kentucky Twist and didn't care for it either way.

Great thread. As I've mentioned, I used to love Red Man and Red Man Plug (others were good too) when playing baseball. I'd love to find a similar flavor for an occasional pipe. I know I wouldn't want it all the time, but every now and then would be a treat.

I have looked into this before and I would be interested to see where you get some swede because I havent found any online or locally. Like zeno, I chewed my share of redman and have looked for a smoke that had a similiar mouth wateringly sweet raisin taste. My grandfather used to chew day's-o-work plug back in the 50's, it's not a twist like I wanted but it turns out they still make it and my local b&m sells it, surprisingly. I bought a plug about month ago with plans to try smoking it. So far I have only chewed it because it's so wet, it's that same delicious raisin taste that brought back memories of being sick in the outfield from swallowing redman lol! If it's dried out enough I'll try to smoke some and report back soon.

I’ve never had it, but my grandfather used to chew and smoke Cotton Boll Twist. I’d recommend GH&Co Rum Twist Rope. It’s strong, but excellent tobacco.

I wrote a multiple paragraph review detailing my experience smoking that plug of days o' work, so of course it deleted itself when I tried to post it on my phone... so quick recap, it was strong, had a faint but sometimes harsh taste of raisin and molasses, was not unpleasant but wouldn't go out of my way to smoke it, might be interesting as a blending component but it's best use is as a chew. 4/5 for strength and 1.5/5 overall. It's smokable if it's all you had, but I might even reach for some borkum riff whiskey before this lol!
