Small pipe lot from a Facebook sale group

I'm guessing the Caminetto has a cracked shank? You won't really find a band on an old one unless it is damaged. Later on, they changed their tune and did some banding.

    Bourbon, Irish Whiskey or Scotch?

This is more about the times than about whiskey, but the Laphroaig email today was the impetus. The email was solely about the distillery manager leaving, written by the guy. We take it as commonplace that we overshare our lives, but geez, talk about unnecessary in a customer relationship...

    My honest-to-God-I-promise last Peterson

Love pokers. Very sharp looking pipe. Really like that Italian/volcano/tapered bowl, and a hefty shank like you'd expect from P.

    What's your favourite Movie Soundtrack?

I believe that soundtrack has mixes/mastering unique to it. Great pick.

    What's your favourite Movie Soundtrack?

Full Metal Jacket is a good pick. Kubrick knew his sounds. I tend to go for the synthy ones, like Halloween II, Escape from New York, and John Carpenter's The Thing, but those westerns wtih Ennio Morricone music are also great. Piero Umiliani did some really nice soundtrack work too.

Talk to me about English blends

This is likely not an issue, but C&D Big N' Burley is a powerful ghoster. It has latakia in it, but I don't think it is the problem. D&R's Picayune is like that too. Must be a type of perique or type of burley that is the culprit. Yes, I know perique is a burley, but another type of burley...

    Solar Eclipse

I'm not sure of our percentage, but because we weren't in the main arc, I decided to watch it on TV. I'm glad I did. Weather Channel had great footage from Mexico to Maine. Maybe watched seven eclipses (possibly more), all with varying degrees of solar flares and sun surface activity you...

    Para cord uses.

I'm sure this isn't what you were looking for, but it isn't as if the board is heavily used anymore. I use paracord in my sweatpants and athletic shorts after I break the original draw strings. Have to be careful to buy a version that doesn't shrink in the washer/dryer though. That was a weird...

    What are you listening to?

Throwing Muses - In a Doghouse (early collection) I first came across this group with the great and seminal Lonely is an Eyesore 4AD compilation. Their track is really interesting and stands out amongst a more post-punk and "gothy" lineup. It's dark in its own right, but it is high energy in a...

    Another serious BH submission.

Thanks. I've always loved this hobby. It's beyond my capacities, and I truly appreciate their patience and diligence. Also, those ball rolling around contraptions, setting off various things.

    Bowl Shape

Looks like a stack bulldog of Danish design, but the rustication is of somewhere else.

    Binge-worthy TV shows?

Shogun on FX/Hulu (2024) Never read the book. Never watched the earlier series. Didn't really have this on my radar, but caught the first few minutes of an episode because I have the DVR set to record three minutes over. I do have an interest in Japan and Japanese culture by way of music...

    Ebay advice???

anyone know how RSteve is doing? Hope he is well. back to ebay advice...always add it to your watch list. ALWAYS. I bet a good 50% of the time, and even more so outside of pipes, I get hit with an offer within a few hours. It doesn't mean anything when a guy is selling a $90 pipe for...

    Fiscal year sales?

I can't image the constant consumerism is sustainable. Guys on other forums buying new pipes every couple days. Literally. I watched this happen when I got into wet shaving. Guys having a few packages of shaving soaps show up every single week, their cabinet quickly amassing 50, 60, 75 tubs...

Talk to me about English blends

I don't personally care for this blend, but we sold a lot of it where I worked many years ago. Lane's HGL. It's basically RLP-6 with latakia, so you get...at least theoretically...the smoky flavors of latakia with the vanilla/caramel room note of the Captain Black series. Multitaskers don't...

    Binge-worthy TV shows?

Alice & Jack on PBS Masterpiece Another British series or miniseries. Interesting premise, but as they pull more episodes out of it, it glares a light on the absurdity of the allowances, tolerances, and patience of such a human experience. However, the dialogue is top notch and incredibly...

Khaki Field Mechanical - less is more.

just for clarity, the brand I mentioned isn't WJS, but IWC. There are a lot of good articles on field watches. Teddy Baldassarre and Hodinkee have written some helpful ones. I think John Mayer (guitar player etc) is an investor in Hodinkee, but I could be wrong about that. This is an odd and...

Khaki Field Mechanical - less is more.

Field watches are really some of my favorites. I love me a giant dive watch, but really, my roots are in field watches. My very first watch as a young teenager was a Timex Camper, green plastic-bodied field watch with green nylon strap. They were everywhere. I think I paid $12. I bet if I...
