I love vulcanite, one of the reasons why 95% of my collection is estates. When I do buy newer pipes like the Savinelli Roma series I always get the Vulcanite stem instead of the Lucite. Has nothing to do with the price, I just like vulcanite better.
Not trying to be mean or ignorant to you and I understand you are new on here, but we don't really discuss this issue "openly" on this forum. At least from what I can see. It is something between friends.
Cobs are apart of American nostalgia. I like the history behind them too. A furniture maker turned corn cob manufacturer. Pretty cool. I don't smoke them all the time, not because I don't like them but because I only own three that I bought and two that were gifted to me from the 60s. The only...
When Lane shut it's doors in Tucker GA I took about 400 bucks and stocked up on 12 and 14 ounce tubs especially when P&C had their sales. Scandinavian Tobacco changed Sir Walter Raleigh to a totally different tobacco. Not for the better either.
I miss Sugar Barrel sooooooo much! The match stinks, it burns hot, tastes like crap and smells like cigarettes. I miss Sugar Barrel, Berry Wine, Walnut, Cherry Blend and I REALLY miss Kentucky Club Mild.
OK, that sounds good. I actually have a bag of Smoker's Pride Vanilla Cavendish and Cherry Cavendish jarred up together. It's a pretty good old fashioned no nonsense smoke. It reminds me of being a kid in the early 80s when my uncle smoked his pipes. The room note brings me back. I use CB Dark...
I have a few tubs of the older Lane made SWR. I'm going to make Urban Cowboy with that. Do you use unsweetened black cavendish or BCA or Captain Black Dark?
Whatever works for you. Plastic for some reason never worked for me long term. Even after "burping" the lid. Glass Mason/Ball jars with the banded lids work the best for me. I've opened tobacco that have been 6 to 8 years cellared that has been fresh as the day I jarred them.
The best thing to cellar pipe tobacco in is Mason Jars. There are various sizes. I use the quart size jars for my pound orders. For the loose stems, BEE'S WAX. I used to try different remedies from rubbing distilled water in the shank to putting a dab of black nail polish on the tenon. Now I rub...
Cowboy Coffee is my favorite pipe tobacco right now. I have a pound and a half of that lovely leaf in my cellar. I've always been a burley guy but the way Cowboy Coffee has its virginia processed it's just a fantastic smoke. My family likes the room note too.
I actually like it. It's one that I can smoke in my living room without getting the look. Hunting Creek, Cowboy Coffee and Ruins Of Windsor are in my rotation. Cowboy Coffee is my favorite though, I'm mean wow, that blender was a genius!
