If you could smoke only one blend....

The idea of never smoking anything but the same tobacco forever sounds horrifyingly like monogamy, but were I forced into such an unnatural union and had to pick a gal I could love for the rest of my life, I would likely go with Stormfront. My wife, conversely, is the Stormfront of females.

    Why are aros so disrespected?

I do enjoy aromatics, but I tend to prefer semi-aromatics. The reason I tend to avoid the blends that are nothing more than flavoring impregnated Cavendish is that while the flavor is often pleasant enough, I'm also a texture kinda guy, and straight aros tend to lack substance..like flavored...

    Fall weather, Autumn smokes...

My autumn smokes are Essence of Vermont as well as other burley based semi-aromatics such as those offered by Peretti and Uhle. I also tend to get more into Balkan blends and I'll find myself ordering a tin of Chelsea Morning.

    Jim's Motzek #8 Review

I'll be in Munich for Oktoberfest, but it seems that does me little good. Kiel, where the shop is located, is pretty much on the opposite end of the country and 500 miles away! :(

    What have you never tried?

I've sampled 300-400 blends, but with nearly 5000 of them on TR.com alone, there are, and will likely always be, far more blends that I haven't tried than that I have.

    What have you never tried?

1- Stonehaven is quite good, and I have about a 1/4 pound still cellared 2- CC I enjoyed...one of the best McClelland VA offerings, and McClelland does good VAs. It's not really that limited. You can find it much of the year. 3- I've smoked a pretty good crosscut of Pease's blends, and have...

    American Aromatics

While EoV is a semi-aro that is tobacco flavor forward, and has en enjoyable amount of body compared to most aromatics, it still doesn't have a tremendous amount of nic punch. If most aromatics are a 1-3 on the nicotine 1-10 scale, it's maybe a 4.5. If you want a little more kick with your...

    American Aromatics

Now that we're talking about EoV....it's about time I put in an order. I really love that stuff. Nothing else out there quite like it.

    Boswell's Rum River

While I enjoy Boswell aromatics..admittedly they do have a couple that I don't really get. The 2 best rum blends on the market IMO are Rum Flake (a Lakeland from SG G&H) and Rumcake, a aromatic from Pipeworks and Wilke. In answer to your prior question on aromatics...aside from Boswell, P&W...

    American Aromatics

The best maple is Vermont Maple Cavendish from Pipeworks and Wilke or maybe Town Topic from McClelland. If you happen to like Perique and something more along the lines of a semi-aromatic, then 4noggins Essence of Vermont is an outstanding burley/perique with maple in it. For vanilla, Pipeworks...

request recommendations for Syrian Latakia blends

That is a goddamn greek tragedy.

request recommendations for Syrian Latakia blends

IMO the best Syrian on the market by a long stretch is Ashton's Artisan Blend.

Need some help with some aromatic tobacco to order

Autumn Evening...I really wanted to like it. I love maple, and the whole season of Autumn really, so the name just brought cozy thoughts. As maple aros go however, I have to say that offerings from 4noggins, McClelland, and Pipeworks and Wilke all impressed me more. Why couldn't one of those...

    Old Joe Krantz

+2 I love the lighter burley's (Storm Front and CH are my favs followed by a few old timey semi-aro burleys from shops like Peretti. Many of them really have so much flavor that I see no reason to move to something like OJK unless it's for the nic hit. OJK is flavorful, and I do enjoy the...

My first foray with Carter Hall

CH is a very nice tobacco. It's heads and shoulders above any other OTC that I've ever tried, and the only one in my regular rotation. It doesn't bite me like sugar barrel or the BR offerings I've tried. It's not goopy like some of those over saturated or overly sweet OTCs...it's just pleasant...

    John Patton's Storm Front

Stormfront is an awesome all day smoke...the nuttiness of a light white burley combined with the sweet meatiness of the Connecticut Maduro. It is hands down my favorite burley blend. Since you mentioned OJK however, I will say that the two have very little in common. OJK is very strong...

    SUTLIFF FIND YOUR PERFECT BLEND

My guess is that you put hate it on latakia, but you "loved it" on both steak questions, you're probably gonna end up with perhaps a blend with at least a little background latakia. edit: nope, apparently you get a non-aromatic with at least some degree of latakia, or you get an aromatic. If...

Which blend has the most kentucky?

I always saw Kentucky as a condiment tobacco in an even greater sense than something like perique. Even 10% Kentucky in a blend is extremely noticeable. 100%..I mean...

Which blend has the most kentucky?

I was smoking Old Dark Fired the other day and I always start out nice with that one, really enjoying the flavor...but man is it strong. Anyone know what percentage of the blend is Kentucky? It also got me thinking...what blend has the most dark fired Kentucky burley in it?

    SUTLIFF FIND YOUR PERFECT BLEND

I ended up with "Old San Francisco" which looks to be a non-aromatic pot luck.
