May 17 new UK leglislation on tobacco advertising

So the thought police seem to march ever onwards in every country. I find it a crying shame that we can't buy our favourite baccy without seeing a picture of a diseased lung or a sub-par sperm. Yes, authorities, we get the Draconian message you are propagating - you don't have the money to...

    What are you smoking?

Having taken a respite from pipe smoking in favour of the positively awful "vaping" experience I am back with a vengeance.   Nothing tastes nicer than some Dunhill My Mixture  in a Kiko Tanzanian Meershaum - I have also tried in in a Missouri Corncob and a Falcon, and it's always a winner even...

US blends similar to Black Mallory / Red Rapparee?

Hi guys. Since ordering my first succesful international shipment from 4 Noggins (Becks Ol Limey b*std - fantastic stuff) I'm wondering what blends available in The States you would rate as being similar (or better?) than either Rattrays Black Mallory or Red Rapparee (both current faves). With...

what pipe of yours smokes the best?

I'd have to say my Peterson system bent apple which I've lovingly smoked from new (having many pipes which I bought as estate pipes). I know there's a lot of debate about ghosting pipes and keeping one pipe for one type of tobacco. For myself I'm more a believer in cooking a pipe with one type...

    Alternative to Dunhill 965?

An update on the 4 Noggins situation. Becks Ol' Limey arrived within the week to the UK without a hitch. Have now smoked four bowls in different pipes and must agree this is a most wonderful blend, certainly better than the current 965. What with this blend and Ashton's Artisan's I must have...

I am a new member and I am formally checking in.

Welcome! General snus white portion is fantastic stuff, but unfortunately they've stopped shipping it to the UK as from a few weeks ago. I am bereft as have been snussing (?) for many years :(

    Alternative to Dunhill 965?

Thanks for all the great advice. Also, in somewhat answering my own question :joker: I have recently discovered Ashton's Artisans Blend. This is wonderful weed: somewhere between 965 and Old Dublin IMHO. A great all-day smoke that never loses its flavour and doesn't bite (me, anyhow).

    Samuel Gawith's Squadron Leader

You can't go wrong with Squadron Leader IMHO. Well worth trying Commonwealth too, its less tangy than its brother but is bursting out with cool latakia. Lovely stuff. :D

Greetings from Snowdonia, North Wales (UK)

Hi, and thanks for the welcome :D Not sure if it was the same Kiko you saw on Ebay, since I've actually aquired quite a few over the years. I find they all smoke well and have no problems at all with the African meershaum's (in fact they are becoming some of my favourite pipes). I'll try and...

    Alternative to Dunhill 965?

Thanks for the link. I have emailed to enquire if they might ship to the UK. The blends sound delicious! :)

    Alternative to Dunhill 965?

Thanks for this. Have ordered some from 4Noggins - they do ship to the UK - will wait to see if it all goes smoothly. Can't wait to try it out :D

Greetings from Snowdonia, North Wales (UK)

RR, yes we're right up in the mountains - great walking country and nearly a mile of free fishing (sea trout and salmon - though I have yet to catch any :joker: ). A stormy day, a languid stroll with a pipe - it doesn't get much better than that :D

    Alternative to Dunhill 965?

A bit about my tobacco tastes. Predominantly an English fan I'm also comfortable with VA's and aromatics (on occasion). I guess tastes change depending on the time of day, the season, and the pipe one smokes, but currently my "go to" daily smoke is My Mixture 965. Not so strong on the latakia as...
