Never had a problem with square tins, although I've heard of it. I have many, the oldest from 1990, and live in high altitude. Store them right and I think you should have no issues.

I'm smoking Deacon's Downfall right now. It is a latakia blend, but it falls right into your description.

Don't use cedar as a humidor for loose pipe tobacco. The cedar scent will eventually contaminate it. If it's tined, you need a cool and dry place, certainly not a humidor. Good luck.

All of them were used. But they were stored in cool and dry conditions (Colorado weather) in my basement. A few examples from the top of my head: Many of the soaps were fine, with little to no change. Many others were drier and showed some cracks, but were also fine. Some of the softer soaps...

Going through a tin at the moment. It's a good blend, but it lacks the sweetness that I seek in blends of this nature. Will enjoy the tin, but it's not a keeper for me.

Is there a way to find out when a certain tobacco was first sold in the US? As you know, FDA regulations are going to severely impact the availability of blends that appeared after 2007. I would like to know if there is an easy way to determine if a certain blend falls in the FDA bleach bucket...
