    a small panel?

Look for a Ropp older Algerian or a Genod and maybe even a Chacom pipe. Smokingpipes sells them and the older French makers are adept at making those panel pipes. Not only are they great smokers, the prices are always right IMO. For a hundred bucks or less you can find a really nice briar and...

    Peterson Mark Twain Redux

I'm with FTRPLT on this one. I believe someone has altered the pipe to bring the stem into the shank. Some people just don't realize that these are space fitted stems and should have a significant space between stem and shank shoulders. I have not seen a photo of the pipe but that would be my...

What's The Last Whisky/Whiskey You Bought?

Being a common sewer of any good libation my last purchase was 2 bottles of Old Weller bourbon and a bottle of Balvenie Carribean Cask malt. I just can't believe the price increases that I've seen in the past year or two on Single Malts. So I've found a couple much lesser expensive malts to...

    Standard Tobacco Company News.

I guess that I'm in the minority when it comes to trying and buying newly marketed blends. With the plethora of blends already on the market I am overwhelmed by the number we already have to choose from. Sure, it's good for business to develop new blends, but to me it's overkill. And bringing...

Aftershave to wear when emptying a clip

Hoppe's #9 is classic. A little dab keeps the skeeters away also. You guys are giving me thoughts of trying to mix a Hoppe's cocktail.......might be like the Perique liquor made in France but with a longer finish.

    Peterson XL26

Quite the thread going on here. Glad to see that all is well and that the end result is exceptional service and happy customer. I am a Peterson fanboy unlike many others. Fills don't bother me if they are lower grade pipes, and if the chambers are coated I just remove that myself. I can...

    NEW Hand Made RDPipes Cutty

nicely done Ron. I've seen many small pipes enjoyed by people that like the 10 minute smoke like you said. You have that shape down just right. Cheers.

    Cartaphilus

Sorry to hear that Ron. I guess one other remedy might be that staunch Black Bogie XXX from Gawith Hoggarth which will put you into a spin.

    Cartaphilus

Call it aging, fermenting, whatever Ron. But today we can fix a lot of that stuff with good drugs. LOL Hang in there. Andy

    This Prince is no toad!

Hard to beat a classic prince shape. Who made this piece?? And using 25 y.o. Single malt to sterilize a pipe is sacrilegious. Good old 100% grain alcohol is in my restoration process. lol

    Cartaphilus

Hate to admit it but I've been doing more looking than posting, mostly on FB. And it keeps me in contact with family which I don't have much communication with because of living so far apart. And there is so much info on everything pipes and tobacco it has taken most of my interest. Sorry...

    Gawith Sweet Licorice Twist

Liquorice.....mmmmm good. Usually a burley blended tobacco. Uhle's makes a really good one in their blend 255 that's quite tasty for my pipe... But for quality it's hard to beat any Gawith tobacco, Be it Samuel Gawith or Hoggarth. Thanks for the info on the twist.

    I Can Hardly Believe It

Nimrod Commander's are great lighters. I have one sitting somewhere but seldom use it. My Old Boy is the go to lighter when at home and on the road the IMCO is my choice. Time to dig into my relics and pull out the old Commander maybe.

    Cartaphilus

Well, I have been away for a while myself, and it's a pleasure to see that AJ and the old crew are still on board. Good luck with the glasses Ron. I've been missing the usual BoB camaraderie spending too much time elsewhere.. Cheers all. Andy

    Badger brush?

Thanks for the info and kind comments. It was surely an incredible find. Couldn't believe it when I saw that beautiful brush for such a reasonable price. And yes, the Williams it the old standard for me as it is for you. :D

    Badger brush?

I"m one of those guys that likes softy bristles as well, lol. I was going to order the same recommended brush as Monbla but going through a consignment shop recently I came across a brand new silver tip badger brush and was blown away from the quality for a mere $12. I've used it for a month now...

    Bought a new brush

That's great news Monbla. It's amazing how such little things mean so much to us guys. You are in good shape for sure with a lifetime of Williams soap and a great brush. Cheers. Andy

    Bought a new brush

Hey Doc Williams soap shut its doors around June of last year.  The folks that use it have been buying it up like 22 LR ammo.  I'm not one of them   MIKE Thanks Mike for the heads up. Our fellow BoB member Monbla made me aware of this. Always sorry to see a company we become accustomed to...
