    Bermuda cruise....cuban availability...?

I plan to go on a cruise to Bermuda in a few months on Norwegian. Can anyone tell me if Cuban cigars would be available to me either on the ship or in Bermuda? The last time I had a chance to purchase genuine Cubans was on my trip to Hong Kong in '88. I miss them so.

    What are you listening to?

    J. S. Bach's English Suite No. 2: (00:00 - 16:04) Close your eyes and watch the Big Bang in progress. See electrons assemble into atoms. Atoms into molecules. Molecules into matter. Matter into planets. Water, bacteria, vegetation, single celled organisms, animals, YOU, LIFE! The peculiar...

    Grabow fans: Alert

Pipes&Cigars has just announced receipt of a shipment of vintage, un-smoked, unfiltered Grabow's at $30 bucks a pop. I have never had a Dr. Grabow, but have always been a little keen on getting one. Duh!! I forgot the link.... http://www.pipesandcigars.com/vidrgrpi.html

    Show us your garden

    Size: 10' x 7' This years plantings (perennials incl): dill - sage - rosemary - horseradish - thyme - oregano - 3 colors, bell pepper - marigolds - tomatoes, 6 varieties - nasturtium - mint I know that's a lot for a 10x7, but it's do-able with diligent use of tomato stakes and trimming. I...

    Just me complaining.....

Its hot as H.E. double hockey sticks here on Long Island and SUPER muggy. All my open baccy is too moist. I'm more annoyed by that than the oppressive heat and worse than usual plague of "stink bugs", AKA: earwigs we're having.

    Abraham Lincoln vampire slayer.....

....WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Yes. Apparently there is a new major motion picture that tells of Abraham Lincoln's crusade to kill vampires before he became president. This is THE stupidest thing I have ever heard. Sounds more like an idea for a comedy skit than a movie.

The 2012 forum pipe thread (merged and edited for clarity)

Since I am new here, I somehow feel a little uncomfortable in making the following suggestion. Mind you, this is merely an idea I am throwing out there to gauge its feasibility, its popularity, and its pros & cons. I was thinking that BoB should perhaps consider commissioning a custom...

Father's Day Poll: PaPa pipe smoker..

My father smoked pipes, cigars and sometimes cigarettes. One of my earliest memories of him is with a pipe clenched in his teeth.

    Tonight's fare...

The wife prepared this home made grilled Kafta Kabob. I did the grilling. Greek yogurt tzatziki, heirloom tomatoes, fresh arugula, fresh cucumber & grilled wholewheat nann. We washed it down with Organic raw ginger kombucha. It was amazing! Now all that's left to do is choose a pipe and...

A summertime treat... if you like sweet coffee

Manhattan Special espresso coffee soda: My parents usually kept some around during the summer months. It is sweet and very strong. You can drink it straight, or add milk for a creamy treat. I prefer it with milk. It is both rich and refreshing. I finished up a bowl of Lagonda with a bottle...

No births for one full year

If as of this very moment no one on earth conceives a child for one full year. Would it have a devastating effect on the world economy? Or would it benefit the economy? This is not a trick question or anything. I'm just putting it out there for the heck of it. A few things would be for...

    Mexican Coke

Just picked up a few glass bottles of Mexican CocaCola at the supermarket. Its got a less intense cola flavor, and is sweeter than the United States version. If asked to formulate my own Coke I would want a more intense cola flavor and less sweetness. Although I did find this Mexican version...

    The stars align; Edgeworth RR

I mentioned on another thread a few weeks ago that I have been thinking of purchasing some old dried up crusty pouches of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed from the bodega down the street, and re-hydrating them. Some of you fine gentlemen convinced me it would not be worth the effort. Good advise fellas...

    My trusty match safe

It has the Boy Scouts of America logo on the bottom. Its water resistant, and it keeps the matches from igniting in my pocket. I was only dumb enough to let that happen once! Then I went on ebay and got this...

    Doodle pipes

Not much going on at work today so with pencil and paper in front of me I decided to doodle some pipes. I just wanted to see how some pipe design ideas I've been kicking around for a few years looked on paper. I am neither a designer nor pipe maker, but I do hold a BFA in photography. Have...

    Piper sightings

Normally I wouldn’t think it worth mentioning that I saw a guy smoking a pipe. As rare a sight as that is these days. While on an errand for my job this morning I drove past a graveyard and spotted a grounds keeper at the main gate lighting his pipe. What struck me was that he appeared to...

A lighting techinque you must try

From the sometimes profound, often absurd, always entertaining 1953 book, The Pipe, by Georges Herment: Part 3: Lighting the pipe; What Shall we use? ".....an ember from a wood fire deserves a paragraph all to itself. It is the queen of all lighters, and any smoker who cares to make the...
