Any Hobby Pipe Makers in Columbus, OH?

Stop in at Smoker's Haven and talk to Bill Shalosky or Premal Chheda. They're both great guys and fine pipe makers.

    Michael Parks, Perfection

One thing to note is how good Michael has become with his version of a "golden contrast" stain. It really brings out the grain. Your new acquisition is one beautiful piece. Michael is one of the very best North American craftsmen and is a terrific person as well. I'm fortunate to have 3 of his...

    Meerschaum Help Rquested

Thanks, guys, for the info. I've checked out the Altinok web site and there's many pipes shown that would work for me. It's good to know that there's been no problem shipping from Turkey.

    Meerschaum Help Rquested

I've been thinking about picking up a meer. I had an old GBD one decades ago but something (now forgotten) happened to it and it is history. I've been looking at IMP, Beckler and CAO (by the way is CAO still making meerschaums?). Any thoughts on any of these lines, or others that you would...

    Radice Pipes

Just picked up a twin bore Silk Cut billiard now that the original prices are half of what they were. The fit and finish is excellent, the drilling right on, and the draw easy and open. The Radice smokes wonderfully and I certainly will buy more of the new production. The new pricing provides...

    Brad Pohlmann

I had the pleasure of meeting Brad at the NASPC show last August in Columbus. He is gentleman and an outstanding pipe maker. I now have two of Brad's pipes and am planning on another purchase assuming he attends the show again. Both of his pipes are among my favorites. His engineering may be the...

Cloudy and overcast...what has pipe smoking become?

Given the never-ending barrage of anti-smoking propaganda, people who smoke any form of tobacco are probably going to be a dwindling minority. But, that is not to say that pipe smokers, in particular, will become extinct. I first took up pipe smoking as a college freshman in 1971, most likely...

    What Are You Reading?

Reading Vladimir Nabokov's Speak, Memory, which begins: "The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. Although the two are identical twins, man, as a rule, views the prenatal abyss with more calm...

    What are you smoking?

Good morning all, Key Largo in a Cavacchi 1c Rusticed apple. This is the first bowl for me of Key Largo and I'm very impressed. I do pick up the subtle cigar leaf in a fine English. My first impression is very favorable. Way to go, Dark Lord!
