    Does anyone dress you?

Actually, a I have about 6 sweet young ladies (all CNAs) come to my room and dress me each morning. But they are threatening to stop next week when Physical Therapy for my new knee progresses far enough to allow me to do it myself. I will miss them.

    Any Linux users?

Carlos: "There should be no reason for Linux to not make use of any Microtek scanner. But you may have to use the command line to get it setup. Then it should work in SANE. Google everything you can about it and read up on it. Then give it a try. Unless something in the firmware of that scanner...

    Any Linux users?

My main machine is dual boot Windows7/Ubuntu Studio (Xubuntu with extra photography programs).  I've had a unix/unix-like system running since about the mid 1980's (remember Coherent?).   I was administering a small Unix system at work and wanted the power of the shell on my home machine.   I...

    Pipe rim cleaning

I've had good luck with Murphy's Oil Soap. I use a paper "Shop Rag"--sort of like an extra-strong paper towel--or an old toothbrush on the tough ones. On extremely bad cases, I sometimes start with small brass wire brush until I get it down to a manageable layer and then switch to a toothbrush.

    Ebay Bid Retraction Issues

If I understand what you're suggesting, the following might occur: my current bid = $10 (maximum is $40) this guy bids $30 My current bid goes to $31 (since my maximum is $40) this guy retracts his $30 bid My current bid remains at $31. Is that they way it works?

Size of rotations and dedicated pipes?

I have a bout 40 pipes. Ten of those never get smoked (but I learned something from every one of them). Six more rarely get smoked (and I learned something from those too). One pipe (my grandfather's) is reserved for Prince Albert because that's all he ever smoked out of it, so it just seems...

Willie Nelson Concert - had a great time!

We were fortunate enough to catch a Willie Nelson concert in the late 70's or early 80's (Cattle Congress, Waterloo, Iowa). Wonderful music, great show. There were a lot of pipes in attendance, but they all seemed to be small ones--brass and stone. And a lot of poorly formed cigarettes, too...

    Pipe rack plans

It helps me a lot.  There are some great ideas there Cartaphilus.  I plan to shamelessly steal some of them for a rack I'm planning.  One question, however:  How do you make the oval indentations on the bottom?

    Churchwarden Tobacco

I have a 10 inch Benton that does an admirable job on Balken Sasieni. I have two 8 inch semi-churchwardens. The first, a Savanelli King's Cross featherweight is my go-to pipe for tobacco that is on the moist side. The second is a Cobbit dwarf that smokes anything, but really loves Prince...

    GBD Stem Oxidation

How do you deal with the "non-brass" (i. e. painted) GBD Logo on a vulcanite stem? Dare you use an Oxi-clean soak with those?

    What's your 9 to 5??

I'm retired now, so I sleep late, do a little web development for friends, smoke my pipe, shoot some photos, fish in the summer, and play in the workshop. Before that I was a programmer (avionics, cartography, copy protection, and educational software) Before that I taught English and speech...

    Balken Sasieni--my journey

I think you hit the nail on the head, ftrplt. Those aromatics and a few tobacconist's store blends I smoked over the years never really satisfied me. The "English" blends do. I tried the Presbyterian and the Gaslight and liked them both. The Presbyterian seemed very mild to me but the...

    Balken Sasieni--my journey

I've been smoking a pipe off and on for about 50 years, but no tobacco really caught my attention until several months ago when I ordered a bag of Newminster English Luxus. I fell in love at first smoke. But I made the mistake of starting to read the forums. You people made me wonder if I was...
