Salty Dogs and Watch City Slices. Both new to me.

    New Savinelli 320

Not technically PAD because it was a gift - but it’s my first 320. I know some people absolutely love the 320 and I’ve been wanting one. Merry Christmas everyone!

    Blending with semois

Just curious - has anyone here ever used semois in a blend? It’s a different burley than what I normally enjoy - and I had a bowl yesterday and I do quite enjoy it - but it would definitely be a once in a while thing. I know the “appeal” of it seems to be that it’s unique on it’s own, but I’m...

    Plume or Mold on Margate?

Opened an old jar of Margate. Any ideas? Lots of little crystal crusted bits but this one the white deposits appear larger so didn’t know if it was a type of mold. Doesn’t smell moldy but I know not all molds smell the same.

    Disappointing tobacco

Ok, not to make a super negative post, but I’m interested to hear if anyone has ever tried a tobacco they expected to like, or saw hyped up, and just didn’t care for it. A few years ago I bought a tin of Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake. I didn’t enjoy it at all, it was very bland to my palate...

New (big) Sav and some cobs

Gave in to temptation the other and bought this Savinelli 510 EX Cocktail. Wanted a large bowl pipe to devote some English and Balkan blends to, and this thing is a beast! Also picked up a couple MM cobs: the little devil cutty and a mark twain. Some tobacco (H&H White Knight, War Horse Plug...

    Today’s tobacco delivery

Picked up spmenC&D small batches, a tin of Old Gowrie, and while talking to the tobacconist she was kind enough to throw in a sample of Old Joe Krantz.

    “Desert Island” tobacco game

Let’s play. You’re going to be placed in seclusion for a while in a cabin. Mountains, forests, lakeside. Of you’re like me, then you sometimes choose your smoke based on the weather/temperature so: Mornings are comfortable, afternoons are sunny and warm, evenings are cool and crisp. You get to...

    Carolina Red Flake w/ Perique

Is this blend worth trying? I know it's sold out most places, but I did find a shop in the next state over with some tins and he will ship. Also - any other C&D or GL Pease standouts I should seek out and try? I have Chenet's Cake, Haunted Bookshop and Pease's Sixpence, Maltese Falcon, Haddo's...

    New pipe and tobacco arrived

The Neerup volcano arrived and is even better looking than the photos on SmokingPipes. Also - a couple tobaccos.

Trying to decide between two Neerup Volcanos

I am thinking about pulling the trigger and getting one of these Neerup pipes. I think I like the look of the darker, sandblasted one better, although I prefer the stem on the smooth. Anyone have experience with Neerup pipes or volcanos in general?

Mouth tasted like ashtray for 36 hours - What did I do wrong?

So I haven't smoked much the past year or two, and lately I started dusting off the old pipes to enjoy this fall weather. I had a small bowl of HU Director's Cut a couple weeks ago, and all was good. Earlier this week however, I took one of my Boswell pipes and packed some Escudo I had cellared...

Any loose leaf tea drinkers here?

Coffee was always my preferred hot beverage, but this past year I've switched to drinking mostly tea. When I drink it Gong Fu style it reminds me very much of smoking a pipe - an informal ritual of preparation and enjoying. The way the tea changes with each steeping much like how some blends...

    Friend inherited these

Hello all. I haven't been around here for a bit but I thought you all might be able to help my friend. Her grandfather passed a few years back, and recently her grandmother passed so the estate has been left to her to clean out. Her grandfather had a bunch of pipes (they've not used the room...

HU Director's Cut and Hans Weidemann blends

I don't see this blend talked about much, possibly because it's a tobacco that has to be ordered from overseas. But my God, it's one of the most delicious tobaccos I've smoked. It's a VaPerBur, and I've been on a huge VaPer kick lately, but I'm finding that the burley added in this blend gives...

    pre-carbonated bowls

So, I've had a few pipes with the pre-carbonated bowls, and oftentimes it hasn't been a big deal. But lately I've been breaking in a Boswell I got for Christmas and man, I've had three smokes in it and the precarbon makes the first part of the bowl impossible to enjoy. Almost an acrid taste...

    Boswell's Bulldog

I saw a Bulldog on Boswell's site I loved, and it turns out my dad went online that night to order it for me for a Christmas gift, but it was sold out. He called Boswell's and JM made another one as a custom order. Super cool of my dad and of JM to do that. Loving the pipe so far!

    Lakeland Dark too dry question?

I'm suspecting I got a bad tin, got it a couple months back and went to open it today and the lid came off way too easily. The tobacco is super dry. Anyone who's had this, it's not supposed to come bone dry is it? I packed a bowl anyway and after a few puffs put it out, burned too hot and was...
