You can all sleep well tonight...

...knowing that our Democracy is safe, now that I'm a Pole Worker. It's Primary season in Arkansas and early voting is available through Monday the 4th, with Election Day on Tuesday the 5th. While our early voting is rather light (compared to the main voting day), it has still increased from...

    CHIAPPA LITTLE BADGER SURVIVAL RIFLE

I like the Henry AR7 for my canoe trips. Light, stores in stock, waterproof, and floats.

    7'+ black Rat Snake

Just before molt, notice the lovely blue eyes. Along with the king snakes, eastern hognose, and copperheads they keep the wood rat population in the wood pile under control. They also keep my wife from bringing wood up to the wood box (or she uses it as an excuse not to help).

What's your drink for the night?

Yes, the basic blended and 12 year Costco Scotch is very good for the price. Now if they'd just get their great bourbons back in stock.

    You Thought I Was Kidding?

I've had grilled guinea pig in Bolivia and Peru in the past, but rats?!?

What's your drink for the night?

She Who Must Be Obeyed ordered an Old Fashioned tonight; 2 dashes regular and orange bitters over a few grains of demerara sugar, cherry and orange slice muddled in, then one large cube, a healthy amount (is there really a healthy amount of liquor?) of Four Roses Single Barrel, and a splash of...

Proof females are smarter than males, in all species

Opening day of deer season in Arkansas. Eight does in my front yard while the males are back in the woods where the hunters are. Not only in deer, but also in humans, the females are the smarter sex, which I seem to prove to my wife daily.

    chickpea pasta

We just made a seafood linguini with the chickpea pasta. The teste was very good. Only downside I found was the next day, the leftover noodles were rubbery and bland. They didn't age well, (but then, neither have I).

    45 years apart

I was a guide up there for about a decade and have solo-packed just about every inch of it. It's even in my will that my ashes are to be deposited on Lafayette Peak. Here's a pix of my friend and I compacting the snow for our tent. Then we decided to "stage" a picture so I jumped on my back...

    45 years apart

I've been coming back to the Porkies (Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park) in the UP for almost half a century. Back in the 70s, (when I had two knees that actually bent, and in the same direction), I was a backcountry guide, and would try to get the Mirror Lake 8-bunker in the middle of...

    Certified Emotional Support Animal

I plan to get an emotional support honey badger the next time I have a flight. I'm not sure if I'll have to pay for a seat for him, or should I let him pick any seat he wants?

Accessories For Sale Added more tobaccos and price drop, McClelland and pipes

Thanks for asking. Since retiring, I've been busier than when I actually had a pay check! But all in all life is good. Jeff

Accessories For Sale Added more tobaccos and price drop, McClelland and pipes

Lots of rare, well-aged tobacco and a variety of pipes. All tobacco was stored in my larder/tornado shelter in basement, at a constant 48-50 degrees. Please Note: I have been selling a fair ammount of what is in the photos below. I can't keep up with putting new photos after every sale, but...

Red Breasted Woodpecker attacks my Birch

We have increasing numbers of red bellied woodpeckers here in Arkansas. Years ago we could see a few red headed up by the Missouri border, but the red bellies are more aggressive and chasing them out of their former territories. They also dominate our feeders and even the bushy-tailed rats...

    From the Upper Carolina

Welcome back to the herd. I was also locked out but Angie helped me get back in just today, and get connected to my old threads. My university made all the retired faculty change their emails with a <@retired.> in the middle, so it's been a hassle and three quarters to change all my past 30+...

    colonoscopy anyone?

Every ten years, clear so far. Minor polyps removed, but none were worrisome. She Who Must Be Obeyed is a nurse, so she is on me constantly to keep up to date on medical concerns.
