Talk to me about English blends

Proper English is my daily first bowl, and it's good. I do not have finely developed palate, but I do like that blend a lot. Good luck in your search, since there's plenty to experiment with.

    What led us to pipes?

I bought my first pipe in about 1965-66 from Smokers Haven in Columbus, OH. I still have that GBD bent bulldog Without a mentor to explain the intricacies of pipe smoking and the "fiddliness" of the pastime, I moved to cigs for the next 40 years or so. I quit them about 10 years ago and...

I have 3 Petersons, and two are fitted with the p-lip. I rarely smoke them, since I hate p-lip mouthpieces. Depending on how much you like the pipe, you can send it off to Boswell's in PA, and they'll make you a new mouthpiece. I just sent my old Kildare 264 Canadian off to them Saturday for a...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

WZ, I've been looking at a Brigham apple on the net, and I was wondering what your thoughts were on the brand in general. I've never owned or smoked one, so I was looking for some experienced advice. Most of my pipes are Italian (Savs, Ascorti, Mastro Geppettos, a Caminetto, and a Brebbia)...

Tim, I'm a SC resident, too, and welcome you to the group. I live in Aiken, so it's good to see a fellow Sandlapper here.

I bought a Radice #29 small Lovat a month or two ago.

I like it a lot, since I can clench it despite a wobbly partial. It's a Silk cut pipe with a light brown/tan stain and a short saddle bit. I like lovats and Canadians, so it fits in well.

Thanks. I'll see if I can get one of those, since I have a couple of their blankets bought years ago.

HR, Who makes that blend? If I can find it, I'll try an ounce. What's in it?

My usual Proper English in an MM Legend. It's always a good way to start my day. Some tobacco questions for you guys. I 'm a big fan of English blends, but lately I've been trying out an aromatic I got from Boswell's with a pipe purchase as a free sample - an ounce of Christmas Cookie. It's...

Balisong, A question for you, sir. Where did you get the replacement stem for that MM pipe? I have two MM Legends, and, even through it can't clench them, I have bitten through the stems on several of their cobs in the past. Any info you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Here from Genoa, Italy

I have passed through Rome once on a flight to Europe, but I've never really spent any time in Italy. I do enjoy Italian pipes and have 22 that I smoke very frequently. 15 are Savinellis, with 2 Mastro Geppetos, an Ascorti, one Caminetto, two Radices, and a Brebbia for good measure. I do my...

    Peterson Spigot Pipes

I have three Petersons, and two are p-lips. Frankly, I don't smoke them as often as I could, since I don't like p-lips at all. The one fishtail I have, a 53, is much more to my liking. I have more than 15 Savinellis, and they are my "go-to" smokers for the most part. I have to use a partial on...
