Good morning...starting the day with the new Vauen Kira 537 I picked up over the weekend. Smoking some 5 yr old Dunhill Early Morning Pipe w/ my morning coffee.

2022 Eight State Burley in a bulldog meer while taste-testing some negroni cocktails. Out of the handful of burley-based blends I've tried, this is the only one I come back to, but I can't quite put a finger on why it's different.

Had a nice ribeye and a couple Manhattans earlier, now working on some C&D Bluegrass with a cup of coffee. I just opened this tin the other day and haven't fully formed an opinion on it yet, but I'm trending towards the positive.

Now on some Brick Kentucky Plug in a bulldog meer. I just recently cracked this tin open and I enjoy the flavor but have to smoke it in my smallest bowl because it's got too much of a nic hit for me at full size.

John Dengler 1917 in my billiard meer. This is smoke #130 in this pipe since I picked it up just after Thanksgiving last year. I've been keeping track to chart the development of the patina. Still a ways to go.

I'm on a nautical misadventures kick right now...I just finished The Proving Ground about the deadly 1998 Sydney-Hobart yacht race and have dived right into Once is Enough, the first-hand account of a 1956 disastrous attempt to round Cape Horn. I've got Fastnet, Force 10 up in the hopper after this.

Finishing off a tin of Early Morning Pipe and trying to decide what will replace it in the rotation for now. It's a toss-up between GL Pease's Bankside, Escudo, or Luxury Bullseye Flake.

Some John Dengler 1917, which is a nice light butterscotch/vanilla aromatic. Goes well in my billiard meerschaum.

Mostly just smoke the heck out of them. I read some advice somewhere once to smoke a new meerschaum upwards of 3-4 times a day for two weeks straight, then let it sit untouched for a couple weeks to "bed in" before going on to smoke it as normal. I tried that and can say it maybe resulted in a...

Finishing off some HH Old Dark Fired in a Hardcastle poker. I'm really enjoying it but want to try more in this style to see if I like this type of tobacco as a whole or just this specific blend...Henrich's Dark Strong Flake is on the shopping list. What else is comparable?

I am not a burley guy, but the 2022 Eight State Burley, C&D Pegasus, and the aforementioned Storm Front have all been good in my book.

Drew Estate was purchased by Swisher and Swisher discontinued the pipe tobacco line. I'm sure you've seen fine Swisher products behind the counter of every gas station you've ever been in.

Dropped my wife off at the airport this morning, she'll be back home for the next few weeks visiting family. Opened up a tin of GL Pease Embarcadero for the first time this afternoon. Normally it takes me a few bowls of a new blend to really warm up to it, but I liked this one right off the bat.

Cool in general, I wouldn't say it's particularly more or less than any of my briars. All 3 of them have fairly large bowls and thick walls...I don't know how much that contributes to it. I just don't like small, lightweight pipes in general.

Opened up some Storm Front burley for the first time this morning in a Vauen 161. Haven't had time to form an opinion about it yet. Currently smoking Newminster Superior Navy Flake in my favorite meer, which I know I enjoy.

I find all 3 of mine to smoke cool.
