Thanks, @Haebar . I suspect that the issue is not caused by smoking, but exacerbated by it. Need to lay off for a while. Seeing an ENT next week, so should know more then.

Further to this discussion of Mastro Geppetto and Ser Jacopo back in April, my first Mastro Geppetto has arrived. @WarneOut was asking @Charley Scanlan about quality comparison between Ser Jacopo and Mastro Geppetto. The two I have really are quite different pipes, with the Ser Jacopo weighing...

Love that pipe. I've admired the Ashton brindles for some time, and finally decided to get one after seeing your pipe here a little back. Mine just arrived. I haven't smoked it yet, as I'm taking a break from the pipe for health reasons. Looking forward to smoking a bowl in it soon.

    What are you listening to?

I grew up a little punk, loving the music from both sides of the pond. Still haven't outgrown it :) The Stranglers have been touring Australia the last couple of weeks. I didn't bother going to see them. Hugh Cornwell hasn't been with them for years. I did go see them in Sydney last time they...

It's one of my favourites. It smokes really well, has a very deep chamber for long thoughtful smokes.

I have one Ser Jacopo which is a favourite - an Insanus Spongia. I have just ordered my first Mastro Geppetto - will let you both know how I think they compare, but probably like comparing apples and oranges given the Mastro Geppetto is a bent brandy. Guess I can comment on build quality...

    What Are You Reading?

Hi Alex. Yes, gbann57 is correct. The first film ended about half way through the first novel. I believe Villeneuve’s plan is to make films for the first three books of the series. I agree that Villeneuve’s adaptation is the best so far made. Lynch’s was not good - some great actors but they...

    What Are You Reading?

Re-reading Frank Herbert’s “Dune” for the umpteenth time. I am really not at all a science fiction reader, but have loved the Dune novels since I was a kid, particularly the first novel. I am re-reading in anticipation of the release of the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s film adaptation...

Lofty Thoughts of a Tobacco Smoker

Thanks for sharing your lovely playing, Charley. I have not read that poem before. Lofty thoughts indeed. Memento mori.

I love Bold Kentucky. Only recently started smoking it after Timbo gave me some. Cool pipe. I’ve never smoked a clay pipe

Mad Magazine's Al Jaffee Dies at 102.

I loved the fold-ins he did when I was a kid. Loved MAD. Sorry for the loss of your friend, Jim

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

I have basically stopped smoking aromatics since I worked out they were giving me problems with my mouth - worse than tongue bite, something more like a bad irritation. Anyway, I hesitantly tried some Eileens Dream recently because it is on Muttonchop Piper's Blend Club for 2023. I was...

    Muttnchop piper - youtube

I use the breath method, too. I find it is both better on my sensitive tongue and really helps me to appreciate the more subtle nuance of a blend. Muttonchop Piper is great. I have been doing his monthly Blend Club this year, which is fun.
